details are VERY sketchy right now but it could be shown as early as august and onsale in the winter.. this is the reason only 315 2011's are coming to the US... because they are doing a early launch of a 2012 the reasoning behind this seems to be keeping up with the latest refresh of the 997. this car now does 0-60 in like 3 seconds flat.. the GTR still was tested better that it in a few recent head to head track tests but straightline acceleration it cant keep up so the new version of the R35 is looking to up the ante again |
don't give Bluebatmobile any ideas. He'll go buy one too
Interesting, I'm looking forward to 2012 facelift. Hopefully the economy would pick up by then so I can get one without much worries :)

Nissan has been very good lately about warranty a friend on NAGTROC just received a new transmission and his car was modded and he had tracked it.. porsche now keeps track of how many times and for how long the car was redlined and uses it to determine abuse in warranty claims many cars have similar warranty exemptions the GTRs were just made very public and they got some bad PR due to some missteps at the initial launch of the car in 08 |

i think the HP will be the biggest deal with the 2012.. im taking an educated guess that the exterior changes will be something sublte that non GTR affecinados wont even notice.. similar to what you see in these pics. in additon to this i would like to see a different wheel design and would like the dark grey off the 40th anni 370 and the limited G37 be offered for the GTR in 12.. i would get that with some black wheels http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightlin...mb-555x370.jpg http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightlin...mb-555x370.jpg |

In another word you have around 12 more yrs of the R-35 GT-R with some changes.
That is if they are going to keep the R-35 for that long this time, maybe in Japan but I don't think that is going to happen in the U.S. |
Thank you for all the info

the latest
520HP minimum. - torque on the rise. - Fuel consumption down. - New front and rear skirts. - New Diffuser - New wing. - New rims. - Improvement of GPS and onboard electronics. - - Spec M (with customization) available - unveiled at the Paris Auto Show. |
Good upgrades coming for it. :)
I don't see much of a change to be honest. I can even see pretty much the same bodypart behind the blinded parts
look closely the entire front bumper is different.. look at the hard edge line that sticks out and comes up from the oil cooler vents and goes to the grill area under the license plate the grill piece with the GTR logo is flatter and curves in to follow the bumper design where the 09-11 curves out..... and the lip is totally new with the sharp edge that extends around the whole lip
behind the tape there are supposed to be double stacked canard areas.. the rear diffuser is very differnt and the air vents on the side skirts are new.... http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....t-june-kgp.jpg in addition to all these the car will have a different wing and wheels plus 40 more HP |
not a fan of the new grill... least not like i see it now. might have to wait to see it in person to judge
im probably still gettin one though... just need to see the new wheel design first thats gonna be the deciding point
you get one and i'll have to head up there and get some snaps :)
Fully uncovered with new wheels
First look at 2012 GTR with New Wheels - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club |
^The new grill looks kinda...blehhh
only thing im not a huge fan off is how the grill has the chrome trim that now goes up the grill..... i never liked that trim and got a carbon grill to cover it up... on the 12 it stands out more.... but i do like the new wheels...
On the back it says Spec V, isn't that the Japan version only.

they are testing the 2 seperate GTRs at the Ring this week... new specV/M? aswell as the standard GTR..... both cars are getting the across the board facelift changes in addition to the cosmetic refresh... the car is getting new suspension around 520HP and new interior/MFD upgrades onsale this winter this is our 2012 model pictured below this is the base car only differnece you can see if the lack of brake ducts in the lower lip http://www.nagtroc.org/gallery/album...21210/spy1.jpg http://www.nagtroc.org/gallery/album...21210/spy2.jpg |
I'm sure I'll feel different seeing one in person, but those dimples on the front bumper remind me of a 3G Eclipse. :(
And with the drilled rotors (hopefully they went away from this) you definitely need the brake ducts for cooling.

now the rear has those heat escape vents in the rear skirts not sure if thats going to help alot.. the rear diffuser is more open now i guess in hopes of keeing the rear diff cooler under hard driving which can be an issue especially in the hot weather |

Not that I'm likely to see anything but tail lights on the road anyway. :icon17: |

i think it will be officially announced at or right before the paris auto show in october nissan is going back to the Ring in october to try to break the 7:26 record with this new car... so the paris autoshow is around that time..... i would expect japan to get the car immediately and the US shortly after... i would guess earliest time frame is november-dec but definately before april of 2011... so less than a year no matter whar |
