Well it finally seems Microsoft has finally come to play in the mobile market properly, now if I could just get a phone with this on it.

Of course YOU found this info first. :stirthepot:
lol, don't make me hate my iPhone you whore. |
I have been watching technically from this weekend, but all the big news was of course today. I think the idea and UI look is exactly what I am looking for, but will it be on a phone that I want to buy. It is like the Android, really like the OS, but very few phones make it worthwhile to buy into it.

From what I've read, they've scrapped the legacy winmo platform and basically started from scratch...it looks to me that they've built the phone experience around their Zune interface. It has a lot of potential and hopefully the phones that carry this will shine. Apple's Iphone OS is great, but can be a little restrictive (apples don't break because apple wont allow you to hehe). Android is getting there, but with open source, you get the bad with the good...hopefully win7 will be a good medium. I was never happy with older winmo phones, but hopefully, like windows 7, this is a good switch.
Its not supposed to come out until the holiday season and as far as phones you can get right now, I think the HTC HD2 is rumored to be one that you can upgrade to winmo7 once its released. I was planning on getting a phone in June after the iPhone announcement (so I can make a proper decision), but now I'm wondering about winmo7 phones haha. |
Yes, Phone 7 is a completely ground up build, which at first I did not believe they could do but they did, sort of. The Zune interface style, with proper mobile interface could be exactly what they need.
For me I am not sure it will be able to pull me away from still wanting to go Android this summer. I really have taken to the Google web programs, Google Voice, docs, etc. and having a native phone easily support all that is exactly what I need. I always have a netbook with Windows on it just in case I need my Microsoft fix. ;) |
You have a netbook?!?!?!?! :rofl2: :roflpuke2: :bowrofl: :rofl2: :bowrofl: :icon18: :rofl2: :inoutroflpuke: :bowrofl: :roflpuke2:

I bought it for school so I could have something to "take notes on," but was not a full size 13" notebook. I almost bought the Macbook Air but was not going to drop about 1k on a laptop with that shitty of a CPU/GPU (at the time). |

There is plenty of hardware which can run this type of OS, but can Microsoft deliver what they are hyping in a clean (bug free) device? |

will it be a vast improvement upon the past winmo platforms- definitely. utilizing the zune platform is a great idea and i think this will provide consumers a promising alternative. i wanna get my hands on a win7 phone and play around with it:tup: |

~Nexus one - 3G reception ~Varios iPhones - battery, screen issues, etc. ~BB - crappy OS, but bad cases The OS I can tweak myself almost with the help of the community, but hardware is very difficult to change. |
i gotcha...
right now android and soon to be winmo7 have the edge when it comes to hardware(faster processor and higher res screen at least),which makes me curious as to what apple will do in june. i hear the 3g issues with nexus one can be fixed with firmware upgrade. i despise BB. i currently have one, can't stand it. its so slow. i recently read about RIM's CEO saying america is too bandwidth hungry and to support 1 iphone, its the equivalent of 5 BB's on the same network. the idiot should go to asia if he wants to see bandwidth hungry. we're so behind with the times in the states, its sad. |
Yep, it is pretty sad how bad our bandwidth ratings our versus the rest of the world. I think we rank in the top 2 or 3 with tech but only top 15 or 20 for bandwidth speeds.
I almost wonder if Apple will do just a minor update, focus on the iPad & Firmware 4.0, on the Nexus One there is a firmware upgrade coming but no word on if it works or improves things. I just got some new info on Windows Phone 7, Microsoft is hitting hardware makers hard with requirements: Windows Phone 7 Series: everything you ever wanted to know -- Engadget * Large WVGA screen with a single aspect ratio (which means BlackBerry-style devices won't be readily available to begin with) * Five specific hardware buttons required: Start, back, search (a dedicated Bing button), camera button, and power -- no more, no less * Capacitive multitouch * CPU and GPU requirements (beginning with Qualcomm's Snapdragon as the go-to processor) * WiFi * AGPS * Accelerometer * FM radio * High resolution camera |
sounds like a winner on paper....dedicated bing button, i hope i can hack to turn into a google button haha.

It will be interesting to see how the extremely large XDA developer community takes to Phone 7. |
