Went to the Red Bull ring circuit today!....and also had a weird situation.

So, as I said in my car thread...I bought a new set of rotors DBA 5000 T3, (floating rotors) and paired them with ebc rp1 pads. I have rbf600 fluid (around 1,5y old) and braided brake lines. I did the bedding in procedure, all good. Rotors have 300km, all works perfectly.

So today I went to a track day and did several very powerful brakings, but also did a cool down lap. And on that first stint, my pedal got soft. Ok, I'll change the brake fluid... But stopping in the paddock, the brakes were smoking a bit. I immediately rushed out and did a few km outside, cca 80-90km/h cruise to cool the brakes down. Worked well, they were cool. But then when I checked the paint markings on the rotors, they all changed colors, indicating that the rotors exceeded 630°C.

And that was just after one short stint. So later when i drove, i was very gentle, all good...but now when I was going home on the highway, I feel a slight judder around 120km/h, and when I brake, the steering wheel shakes a bit.

Did i really manage to ruin completely new rotors in ONE stint? Or is it possible it's just brake pad deposit?

Thanks for your answers.

It sure sounds like it. I would suggest investing in some AP Racing brakes and calling it a day. They work very well.

But really, are rotors that fragile? I mean, I didn't spray them with water after that :|

Would it make sense to put them on a lathe and try to get them straight?

Yeah, you can put them on a lathe to see if they are warped. You can cut a few thousands off to straighten them. Also check for hot spots.

And that’s a wrap on Monday. Getting through this 4th quarter at work is always brutal.

Got my final redline pulls for tuning in before the crappy weather. Martin from Enthalpy did all the work. The car pulls like a raped ape now! I got a great handful of new tunes,

1. Performance
2. Eco
3. Advanced Traction Control
4. Performance with Flat Foot

plus the add-ons, valet, fuel cut off, launch control.
