Pulled the trigger...
Traded in MZ DAIZY yesterday. Leased a 2023 Rogue Platinum AWD for 18 months. Wife absolutely loves it! Me? Meh, it’s nice. Much more practical for this time in our lives. Gonna miss the Z but I couldn’t pass up the deal.
I’ll still lurk here since I refuse to join a Rogue group. :rofl2: The dealer I traded to has a Z coming in Jan 16th. Gunmetal Gray Sport and has already been sold for $76,000. Crazy, but they promised me a peek at it before they deliver it to the customer and I’m curious to see it in the flesh. Happy Christmas and Merry Chanukah, youse guys! |
congrats dude!

Congrats for the new car! Also, I think I'll never understand the marketing shenanigans with giving you a 2022 car while naming it a "2023".
|
Congrats man! Don't be stranger sir.
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! |

$76000 for a ‘23 Z!! That’s nuts! Wonder what they’ll go for in Canada.

Keep hanging out man. We haven’t had a Z or a Nissan for years now but I’m still here, I’ve got Internet forum buddies that I’ve “known” for like 10+ years now. :icon17: |

The salesman bragging about how much better the new motor is over the 4 banger was laughable. I told him it’s like bragging about being the tallest midget in the circus. He didn’t get it. So much dealer fluff added to this vehicle but again, I’m renting it for 18 months to see how the market shakes out. |

A quick 5 things I hate about the Rogue....
One touch windows is drivers only. No locking gas door. Capless is cool, but even more reason to have a locking door. No ventilated seats. No power folding mirrors Wired android auto. C’mon Nissan, for $42k I expected a little more. |

Yeah, in 2022 for that $$$ it’s pretty :icon14. The no power folding mirrors would bug the **** outta me. |

My vote is to take the car back and get your Z back. |

The main thing is my wife loves it. Happy wife, happy life! I should have went with the Mazda CX-5, but they wouldn’t give me shift on the Z and the dealer was an hour and a half away. I’ve got 17 more months to figure it all out. Bottom line is I got way more for the Z than I expected, but also paid more on the Rogue than I should have compared to the Mazda. I consider it a wash. Once again, car dealers are one of the lowest beings on this planet... one step above lawyers... it’s a rigged game, but nobody put a gun to my head. |
Some things I really like about the Rogue...
Super smooth and quiet. Don’t even know it’s running. Haven’t timed it, but 0-50 is rocket fast. At least my seat of the pants tells me. 35 MPG on regular fuel. Seats are recliner soft and comfortable. The nanny’s are perfect for the wife. Turn on the laser Cruise Control and navigation and it almost drives itself. Kinda freaky, but very cool. Actually nudges the car in the direction you need to go (off ramps, etc). Heads up display was annoying at first, but getting used to it. Like that the speed limit and turn by turn is right in front of you. Auto braking is VERY cool. Picked up a deer in the middle of the road the other morning. Wife couldn’t figure out why the car was stopping. Auto start senses temperature and turns on climate control, heated seats, heated steering wheel. Wife LOVES that! |

The idea of "happy wife, happy life" is BS. Marriage is a two-way street and each decision has to be mutually beneficial and not just one-sided. Team effort and mutual respect, otherwise, 1 person will always resent the other. Quote:
Have you received the check from the dealer? If not, I still stand firm on my vote on getting your Z back. If you are planning on getting your Z back, the longer it sits at the dealer, the more "test" drives it's going to get. |

And I thought the check deadline was today? If it hasn't come today, it's not coming tomorrow, and that dealer will most likely feed you any pathetic excuse to further delay. |

I think the dealer knows I don’t want the Z back, so I’m kind of between a rock and a hard place. Unless I want to get a lawyer involved... honestly, I’d rather stick a needle in my eye than to do that. |
If you could get your car back - would you? With the new Z out and used car prices coming down; I would imagine you would be able to get a slightly used Z for probably less than what you traded your ride in. Also - this would give you time to check out different platforms or the new Z if that is an option. Regardless I feel that the Z is a great car - love mine - but…you’ve already did the hardest part - trading it in - maybe check out other car platforms while your wife enjoys the Rogue. In the end - the Z prices will be going back to normal/down - so you can always get another one cheaply.

You’re leasing correct? If so as long as you get your damn check, then you can walk away from the rogue in 36 months and call it a learning experience. Gives you time to fig out what’ll be next. FYI, if a sports car isn’t in the cards for y’all for whatever reason, there are plenty of fast sporty suvs out there now at various price points. Just a few: Hyundai Kona N, Audi Q3 45 TFSI (MK7 GTI motor), BMW X2, Mercedes GLA, etc. PS- happy new year man. |
