Ok, if this happened I would buy it.
It would solve almost any issue with it people have, and still allow Apple to have their control over the device, maybe even more so (jailbreaking community?).

The bezel is pretty ridonkulous, too. But, need to hide all the WiFi and other goodies SOMEWHERE, since its so thin already.

The biggest thing would be customization...theres reasons I like my Droid over the iPhone, by far - and its not JUST the fact that AT&T blows lol.

You are in DC, it blows there. :shakes head:
Here AT&T is fine, but we get zero Android phones (AT&T) until summer so I might be switching. I think with OS X Apple could even have made a slightly modified UI for the iPad to give it more touch function without having to dig into the folders.

My only question though, is OS X fully touch ready? Pinch, zoom, multitouch, etc.

This would have been somewhat innovative (and useful)

Taking the iPhone/iTouch OS and slamming it onto a big *** tablet isnt however.

I agree with that as well. I hate att I do not care where the service is.

All apple accomplished is a giant iPod touch do they really expect people to buy their giant iPod or just people like us to flame them for it??

Here is another interesting device that fills some of the holes left by the iPad (flash support, camera, 1080p output and multitasking)

Reminds me of the CrunchPad that didn't make it to market:

It is the crunchpad, they renamed it.
The joojoo is nice, but it is all web based so the iPad has that one upped in terms of offline app usage. Also, the keyboard on that thing is horrible, but it will be interesting to see if it can perform (still in a pre-order stage).

I was really hoping for a 64 GB or 128 GB iPhone. 32 GB just isn't enough for me to consolidate my ancient Razr and personal media player into one device just yet. I have no use for an oversized iPhone that won't fit in my pocket.

iPhone updates are now always scheduled to be released around June, maybe a small announcement at Macworld, but usually Macworld is there software keynote (and they have a big one with update 4.0).

I can already picture the protective cases for this thing - adding to it's overall size and uselessness.

IDK, I don't see a purpose for people who already have an iphone and a laptop. It's neither. I don't want to have to carry all three around. It looks cool, with a fun interface, but basically is a huge iphone/ipod touch without the phone.:thumbsdown: If all my mods were done to my Z and I had a lot of extra cash laying around, I might buy one just for couch surfing the net, otherwise I say make the iphone screen a 1/2 bigger give it G4 and a faster processor and call it a day.

See, I think the iPad could replace your laptop almost for daily use. Maybe with apps and jailbreaking it will, but for me on a daily basis I just use my netbook. Do not need a lot of power, mostly battery life and basic web connections.

Equinox 01-31-2010 06:18 PM

I think they didn't run the OS X software because it may be too slow meet Steve-o's expectations - so they put the iPhone software on it, as it runs on slower machines. As thin as that sucker is, I'm thinking they didn't even include flash because it also is a resource hog. When you think of how little the battery is in that thing - and compare running the processor at full tilt watching flash in OS X, your iPad would last an hour. That would explain no multi-tasking as well. Good luck listening to music while you reply to emails, lol. Who the hell listens to music and stares at teh album art. Steve-o you're ridiculous.

Those are not the 100% best, but you can find netbooks with HD screens, 10 hour battery life, quick CPU/GPU (note: for the size, you will not run photoshop on this), plus plenty of HDD space and memory. How do I know this, because I have been using one for almost a year now.

This is mine:
11" screen
2GB of memory
100GB hard drive
1.3 or 1.6Ghz CPU
720P display
Runs Windows XP, Vista, or 7 (I have also tested Ubuntu & OS X)
10 hours of battery life (Really more like 9)
Weights 2.25-2.5 pounds

That's pretty sweet. I'm still torn between a 14.1" lcd laptop vs. a netbook. But I'm leaning more toward the laptop since netbooks are way too small for my taste. Also, is there Netbooks with more powerful processors (other than atom)?

Luv'n my Z 01-31-2010 07:12 PM

Ak why not get a MacBook pro 8 hrs of battery 15 inch screen nice processor and most importantly OS X 10.6 a little on the expensive side though

Not currently, but ION (by Nvidia) might give some beef to the netbook market. Only problem is it mostly focused on graphical power, but Nvidia says ION will be faster CPU.
I would go with a 14" laptop, or maybe a 13" laptop if you do not need the GPU power but more the CPU power.

But if this hasn't been posted already, I find it pretty amazing. Could be a publicity stunt I suppose, but most of me wants it to be legit.
