I don't see why this is such a big deal. Every business is in it to make money, and if a particular area/store isn't producing and rather losing big bucks, then it absolutely makes sense to shut it down.

Just used the very last roll of TP from when I mass-purchased back in mid-2020. As soon as I got wind that COVID had the potential to become a global issue, I started buying in bulk of hand-sanitizer, Clorox Wipes, Clorox Bleach, and anti-bacterial soap. Still have plenty of Dial Soap and bleach to last probably another 2 years. What I wasn't expecting was the hoarding of TP. I was in real estate property management at that time, so I ordered a sh!t ton of TP through the janitorial vendor we used at the time.

But I've always wondered: Why was TP and paper towels such a hot commodity during COVID? Anything anti-bacterial related I can understand, but why also TP?

....and who the hell are you? Lady, you can't look to the past to get insight on solutions on what to do for the current situation because this scenario is new: COVID, global supply shortage, war. The Feds are doing exactly this of using an outdated playbook for a scenario in which we've never been in before, and look how it's NOT working out.

Ummm....banks have been getting more cautious about lending money since the Feds starting raising rates starting over a year ago. It's called quantitative tightening and it's been happening WAY before the bank collapse.

Look and see on how many businesses have shut down and or pulled out of Portland, and Seattle. Then there is Cali. Try and rent a U-Haul in Cali. Once they find out that you are taking it out of state. The cost goes up triple.
