Got a ticket yesterday for doing 89 in a 55 *SIGH* I was doing so well for 2-3 years lol

Was in bumper to bumper traffic and as soon as it cleared up, I went WOT to make it to the next exit. I got pulled over right at the exit! Trooper gave me a ticket and let me go in 5 min. No points and just marked me for going 10 over...although that's not what the ticket says. Oh well, I deserved it.

Only thing I was confused about was the Trooper didn't have me sign anything. He just handed me the ticket. Don't they usually make you sign the ticket?

Something to look into if you want the ticket quashed. Sounds defective on its face.

Reduced to 10 over and no points? That's pretty lucky!! How much of a fine is that in Maryland?

Correct, reduced to 10 over and no points. Honestly, I'm not sure why he was being so "lenient." I thought I was SOL for sure. I was expecting two something, but the fine was "only" $90

Is there a specific number over the speed limit when you get points? I thought a speeding ticket automatically got you one point, I think that's how it is here in Commiefornia

90$ and no points... I don't know if I'd even fight that. Just pay it and count yourself lucky! :tup:

Soo I looked into it some more. I stand corrected. There actually is one point. I also looked up the code that I was charged with: 21-801(a)

"Driving at a speed not reasonable and prudent" AKA this is a ticket that officers sometimes give when they think you are going too fast for the conditions, even if you are under the limit, or if they were not able to properly measure your speed. Meaning, there is no evidence (radar, lidar, etc.) other than their visual estimate based off their judgement and experience. I just don't understand how he was able to come up with 89 lol

Maybe he had to accelerate to 89 to catch up to you? LOL! Or perhaps he just gave you a break in the form of a 90$ "warning"?
