I just wanted to double check I'm thinking correct. 6/2 50' run. Two hots and a ground. Right?

Depends on the compressor. 50 amp breaker for sure. Does your compressor use a 3 wire or 4 wire hook up?

I got the Griswold's living across the street. Their house is already lite up for Christmas. I don't need lights in my living room. I have enough for them.

You only need a neutral if you have 110V controls. If no controls at compressor (ie, straight to motor), two wires plus ground is what you want.

You can determine appropriate wire size using ampacity tables you can find on the web. https://html.duckduckgo.com/html?q=ampacity%20table
