BACON BITS
by the Spoiler

HARDEE'S FRISCO BURGER WAS A GAME-CHANGER FOR BACON.

Bacon took a beating in the 1980s, when dieting trends took aim at saturated fats and cholesterol. By the '90s, though, Americans were ready to indulge again. Hardee’s Frisco Burger, one of the first fast-food burgers served with bacon, came out in 1992 and was a hit. It revived bacon as an ingredient, and convinced other fast-food companies to bacon-ize their burgers. Bloomberg called it the Frisco Burger "a momentous event for fast food, and bacon’s fate, in America."

...and now back to your regular scheduled programming...

.

I was born in 1981. Bacon was a staple of my youth. A variety of family members had friends or farms nearby and always made sure we had fresh bacon.

These days I'm very particular about bacon I pay for at a restaurant. Most of it is overpriced and terrible quality. I'm always looking for new bacon options but my favorite ones are usually thick or cubed and coated in a spicy rub (like cayenne or chili powder) along with some form of sugar (brown sugar or syrups are common).

I like thick sliced smoked slab bacon sprinkled with salt but my heart and veins not so much.

Here is my sunset from yesterday from the back porch looking out over the golf course...

I took it while I was out there setting up my telescope for the later viewing of the “Christmas Star”

We lived for 30 years out on a point on the lake in NC and always had a beautiful view of the sky. When we moved here that’s what we looked for, a nice view.

eastwest2300 12-22-2020 06:00 PM

I got a pretty nice view behind my house too.. I see myself sitting out there a ton.. kicking back.

Racking my brains out. :shakes head: Trying to get my Kestrel weather station to bluetooth to the Applied Ballistics app on my phone. The phone sees the Kestrel, but the app doesn't. :shakes head:

I had to run to the Dodge dealer today to pick up some parts for my truck. Struck out on one, discontinued. Got the other two. Now the ugly. Every dang time I go I don't get out of the truck before a salesman is wanting me to buy a new truck and trade mine in. My answer is always the same. You can have it if you can pry the keys from my cold dead hands. It's not for sale. Response, we have people coming in all the time looking for a 5.9 Cummins truck. Me, Not my problem..... Going to the parts department.

Does the app have a support contact you can message? It most likely doesn't support whatever identifier the bt uses. I've had that issue before with golf equipment. Phone would find it, but specific apps wouldn't talk with the device.

My Kestrel 4500 was discontinued. The Allied Ballistics is suppose to support it. It shows the 4500 model. But when I go into Configure, it doesn't show it. It shows 3 unknown devices. I go into the bluetooth settings on my phone. It shows the 4500 as paired. :icon14:
