I love working out.

Back on new years eve I set a goal to lose at least 40 pounds if not more by the end of this year. After starting the diet 3 days after new years day. I have put off 10 pounds so far. What is really cool is I have rediscovered things such as my enjoyment of cooking, and what it feels like to have more energy. I am not fallowing any diet plan or killing myself with starvation. I just eat healthy things and watch what I eat. If things continue to go the way they are I might try to lose 60 pounds. Next week I start school again and will have 2 hours in between classes. So I will be able to use there gym and will have access to much more equipment. Wish me luck and I will keep this up to date on my progress.

Starting weight: 250
Current weight: 240

i'm a skinny dude, currently 6'2 and 185, but when i gained some more than i would like all i did was modify my portions. i still eat horrible food fairly often, but instead of gorging myself i just eat a reasonable amount and don't get seconds. i was at like 197 and dropped down within a couple weeks.

eventually i'll get back into working out again. probably drop to like 170-175 then work on getting up to 200lbs with no gut (muscles yay!)

gj on getting off your ass and getting things moving in the right direction though! there are a lot of programs out there for working out in your home with or without any equipment. saw one on TV a lil while ago that was interesting. supposed to be great for losing weight, increasing energy, and just getting in shape in general. looks torturous though lol.

EDIT: it's called "Insanity"

Guys in general are lucky. It's easy for us to lose weight just by adding in some exercise without really changing much else.

the key is consistency! good luck and dont quit.

Do it while you're young, it's a lot easier!

I'm nearly 40 and I'm finding it progressively more difficult to maintain the muscle tone and energy that I had in my 20's.

I usually get the best results by combining strength training and cardio in equal amounts. More muscle mass increases your resting metabolism rate, and the cardio improves your heart and lung function while burning calories and toning muscle.

But I'm like Vipor, 6'1 and 175. While I certainly do overeat on occasion, I eat controlled portions rather than eating until I'm stuffed. There is a delayed signal on the stomach to the brain, so if you stop before you are full you will usually discover that 10 minutes later you actually are satisfied.

If I get really motivated maybe I'll give P90X another go. Last time I tried it I hurt so bad after the first 2 days that I quit. :p

I'll probably download either P90X or Insanity sometime soon. I need to save some money anyways so more time at home would be good.

What you're saying about the delayed signal makes sense, it's one reason people say to eat slower.

Thanks Christ what I normally do is before a meal I will have a few chips with salsa or hummus than I will become less hungry as I am cooking my meal. It works pretty well, even for breakfast I will have a very small portion of cereal before cooking my meal.

Hey lets all strip down, oil up, stand in one big line and do some squats in front of the full length mirrors at the gym, what do you say!

I start college next week and hope it actually will allow me to workout more. As I will have access to the gym in between classes. But it will be a lot of homework from waht I am thinking.
