Frame size is based on how tall you are. Stand over the bike. On a MT, there should be about 4" between the crossbar and your crotch. Road bike 2".

I have a Trek 990 MT bike. It's an older cro-moly frame. The ride is between the flexy Ti frame and the stiff aluminum frame. Carbon frame are a different animal. They can be anything from flexy to down right super stiff. The other thing is tire size. 26" or the new 29".

I'll have to use her bike as a template and measure myself. I'd go with an aluminum frame because the battery would be mounted within the triangle part inbetwen your knees.

No clue on tire size. Whatever would be most comfortable.

I used to see a red tailed hawk do the same thing in the lake behind my old house. He'd stand in the water almost shoulder high and flap around a bit. Pretty funny stuff.

I'd also see him fly away with a frog in his talons quite often as well. :icon17:

Good Friday morning...well at least it is for me. I am taking the next two day off and me and the wife are flying to Boise ID. Gonna visit some friends and family and most importantly look adding a new member or two to our family. Yes it is time to get another bird dog or two. Looking getting a Pudlepointer. They are cool breed a crossbreed of a Standard Poodle and a Pointer.

For today's weather report here in the land of the sun, well we are back to the normal sunny and hot!!!!

I plan to get a bafang 750w mid motor kit with either a 14ah or 17.5ah tube style battery.

It's based more on components than brand of bike. Most bikes are running Shimano components. I would look for Shimano Deore rear derailleur. Front shifting won't matter because you'll be installing a single chain ring up front for the electric set up and will lose front shifting. Definitely go with hydraulic disc brakes. Mountain bikes have either 68mm or 73mm bottom brackets so find that out when you buy the bike and then order your kit. That is unless the kit comes with adapters for either. The Bafang mid mount kits are a good kit. A buddy of mine installed a 1000 watt one his full suspension mountain bike and that thing flys.

Apparently all bafang motors are adjustable between 68mm and 72mm. I'd be doing the 750w mid mount bbs02b kit with a 44t sprocket for more torque to handle hills easier.

The stand over height is an old school measurement style. It's actually based more on seat tube length. A good bike shop will be able to properly fit you.

Aluminum frame is the way to go, especially since he'll probably be mouting the battery pack on the downtube.

For the day crowd.

Trying to help out a local charity meet their fundraising goal amid this pandemic. A donor has graciously offered to match 10k in donations through the rest of this month. My son is a beneficiary of their services, and without them we would not be able to keep him in therapy. If you can spare a donation and don't mind sharing this, their link is below. Much appreciated!

Tire size will depend on what you're going to use the bike for. If you're going to ride it primarily on the street then get a hybrid. If you get a hybrid it would be 700c and probably 38mm wide tires. If you go for a mountain bike, it would be 26" or 29". Widths really vary.

Aluminum frame for sure. When you find a bike you like, send me the specs on it and I'll tell you if it's a decent bike.

Honestly, do you have any recommendations? I have never owned a bike before. No clue where to look or start. I'm trying to keep it under $300 because I don't even know if it'll be used much. I also know to not go out and buy whatever Wally World has on sale.

I assume i'd get a hybrid because the majority of cruises would be on the street.

Do not go to walmart or any big box store. Their bike are junk. I call them throw away bikes. You use them for a season and throw them away. They'll need so much work at the end of the season that it will cost at least double the original cost of the bike to repair them.

Without knowing what your local bike shops carry, there's no way for me to give you a recommendation. I can tell you that anything you're going to want to put the bafang set up on is going to be over $300. If you were out here, I could get you a great deal. Three of my friends own bike shops.
