I was looking at some housing developments. Within the price range of the houses and what I could afford to put down @ 5% interest, the mortgage would be 500 dollars less than what Im paying in rent.

I used mine on this house. $0 down on a 219K house, P&I w/escrow $1650. My interest rate is about 5% if I recall correctly. I did pay some $$ up front to get the rate down a little.
I may refi later this year, the rates are predicted to drop to sub 3%.

Good Morning my family, I am very sad and heartbroken over what is happening in our country. I am so disappointed in us and our leaders. I am still hopeful as love all the picture of the protesters and officers standing together and those protesters protecting officers that have gotten separated from their units. God be with us all. Be well and stay safe!

Interesting, yesterday we were going to El Dorado park in Long Beach, as soon as we crossed into LB, we got the curfew text alert. Geo Fencing...lol
No curfews in OC...yet.

Buckle up boys, it's 1968 all over again.... :gtfo2:

They shut the protesting down right away in Huntington Beach when the counter protestors showed up. The people of Huntington Beach weren't going to let it get to the point of looting.

I would imagine that was the case in most parts of OC.

We had to go to Target. The one near me had a line just to get in, so we went to the one in Cerritos. No lines, everyone relaxed, people still practicing social distancing/masks. They still closed early, but I guess the store hours were set by the corp.

VA is $0 down. I just had to provide a copy of my DD214 to the finance folks and they did the paperwork. Mine is financed through Planet Home Lending right now, I may go with USAA when I refi, I'd really like to go 15 or 20 years instead of 30. The $$ per month is higher than my current 30 year note. What you have to keep in mind is that they will quote you a P&I (principal & interest) amount and 'kinda forget' about the escrow amount. My escrow (taxes & insurance) runs about $440, so my P&I payment is around $1200. If I can get my P&I down to around $800, then I'll refi, otherwise, I'll stick with what I have. The house across the street from me just sold at $285K, and it needs more work than mine.

KC had a curfew over the weekend, they weren't going to enforce it last night, but right after they said that, it all went to chit. They burned a couple of shops on the Plaza, and there was supposed to be a 'protest' at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park... :icon14: WTF?!?!?!? That's a shopping center, there are no 'government' offices there. Not a good idea to bring that chit into my neck of the woods... body bags will be in order.... :shakes head::shakes head::shakes head:

Hey EW, you best keep your head on a swivel in Miami, they killed a FPS officer in LA over the weekend.... :eekdance:

Damn.... I was just figuring what I'd have to bring to clean that chit off so I could put it on my Z for the return trip. :owned:

The monthly note numbers I came out with was from the VA Benefits mortgage calculator. Im not sure if P&I and Escrow are both included. Either way, at the price point Im looking at, it would probably still be cheaper than my current rent.
