Memorial Day 2019

This day has always mint a lot to me. I would like to take the time to THANK ALL of you that served and the ones that I always say a prayer to in thanking them for giving their lives so that we can enjoy the life we all live today. To my Father who was a member of the Checkered Board Babies who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart in World War II. Also My Uncle who was a Tank Commander in the Korean War and received the Bronze Star. So I pass this on to all you younger forum members, if you ever get the chance to talk or visit with a vet during this time frame Don't pass it up. You will learn so much more than you will ever read in any History Book. :usa::usa::usa::usa:

1100 bombers sent to bomb the Misburg oil refinery and a rail yard. Germany sent 500+ fighters to intercept them.

Yup. During WW2, the lack of fuel really changed and hampered Germany's war strategies, their oil fields in Hugary and Romania couldnt keep up with their needs. So protecting their oil assets was priority.

This mission your dad was involved in really crippled the German army even more.

And to add to this, the lack of fuel was one of the major reasons the Germans failed during the battle of the bulge, godspeed...

Yes it's always important to remember all of the brave men and women who fought for us. My Dad was in the French army during WW2. He never talked much about the bad stuff but loved to tell us about his funny experiences. He passed over 20 years ago and I still miss him dearly.

Thank you to all past, present, and future soldiers. Your sacrifices are greatly appreciated.

My grandfather was blinded by mustard gas in WWI. My dad got 2 Purple Hearts in WWII. My brother got a Purple Heart in Nam. The family lost 4 cousins in Nam. I was in the DoD doing dirty work in the 70's. 2 stepsons in the sandbox. 2 nephews in the sandbox.

God Bless everyone who serviced this country in time of need. :tiphat:
