Getting car inspection done today. They have to pay tags+ personal tags in the amount of $235.00 No idea how much inspection will be in Williamson county.

It's a state mandated inspection. You can get the inspection done anywhere. It should be $25.50. Shops charging more should be reported.

Here is the fee schedule: https://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/VI/CostOfInsp.htm

American ended up putting him on a United flight leaving at 11 pm Thurs to DC. He's then got a flight on American back to Austin scheduled to arrive around 4 pm today. What a nightmare...

Was this anything to do with LAX losing power Wednesday night.Flights where canceled and a lot of rerouteing all over US.

So glad I live in a state that does not do inspections and emissions tests.
I would be screwed. They do random safety inspections on highways.Check brake lights, turn signals, head lights, cracked windshields, body damage. horn and look at tire tread.

:iagree: We dont have any inspections, if something is busted on your car when you get pulled over, they can write you a fix it ticket.

Should have time after work to get the Lexus squared away. I noticed the need to replace a couple of o-rings, also.

Is that o-ring for the thermostat?

JARblue 06-07-2019 10:53 AM

I've never heard of LEOs doing random safety inspections on the highway. If they see you driving with a severely cracked windshield or busted tail light, you are definitely at risk of getting pulled over for it. Most of the tickets are fix it within 30 days, provide proof of repairs and pay a $15 dismissal fee.

There are inspection stations that will pass anything. Just gotta find them.

Not sure. Wouldn't surprise me though.

Flights out of Las Vegas are pretty reasonable too!

No. I got that one with the thermostat.

The metal tubing that connects the t-stat to the lower radiator hose has an o-ring that is showing a little wear. So easy to replace right now I might as well do it.

For my Passport, I had an O-ring from a metal coolant line to my t-stat housing. That thing was so corroded, and since Isuzu (Passport was a rebranded Rodeo) had gone away, I had a heck of a time finding an O-ring for it. Found a dude on Ebay and ordered a dozen..lol

I'll probably just look for one at the local auto parts store. But I will likely buy a kit with a good variety just so I have them in the future.

bunk 06-07-2019 11:03 AM

I bought a variety pack too, i think it had like a dozen or so different sizes, but none of them fit. Dang Isuzu...

The Highway Patrol does this. You will be driving on road and there will be a sign automobile safety check ahead. Then they pick random cars to inspect.

They also do roadblocks for drunks at times.

Sometimes they do drug roadblocks on interstate and stop every car. This is quite a sight.Takes an army of law enforcement and numerous drug dogs.

This has all be contested in courts but upheld.
