Almost done this audit. 1 minor finding (manufacturing failed to update a work instruction after changing their procedure). I'm waiting for the auditor to finish up documenting his observations, then we negotiate on a few points, he closes the meeting, and can :gtfo2:

I was ready to strangle him yesterday by 5 pm.

They will try to drag it out. The longer it goes. The more money they get. Unless you have a contract with a set amount.

They nic-picked us to death at Elliott.

You guys didnt go through a dry run on the work instructions? We used to have constant meetings with each department going through them before we went through the audit.

Quick answer is no. Longer answer is we've got literally hundreds of Work Instructions, some of which are out of the scope of what I do. My branch of the company is only 41 people, so having the manpower to do a dry run of all potential work instructions the auditor could be going through prior to an audit is... not out of the question, but unlikely. Especially in an area that I don't directly control. Getting our director of manufacturing to do anything like that is difficult.

Edit: I will add that the areas performing to the work instructions are supposed to be reviewing their work against the WI on a regular basis, but we're still working on the discipline of that mindset. Right now it's still a little too much of a "if quality isn't watching, it doesn't matter" thought process.

Al (the auditor) is actually pretty good about sticking to his plan. It helps that Dekra (certifying body) wants us to keep using them, which means that they try to limit unexpected costs.

I finally bought a Dremel. It is supposed to arrive this weekend.

I've practically memorized that thread, I've looked at it so often in the last few weeks :tiphat:

Be careful. You're going to start finding stuff to use it, whether they need it or not lol. "Hmmm, this edge needs some beveling..."

Another great Amazon story... Ordered some silver/graphite anti-seize last weekend cause I didn't want to use the copper stuff I have. But I also saw they have the stick form of copper anti-seize, so I also ordered one of them (the stick form is so easy to use!).

Order arrived yesterday (w/o Prime btw). There were 2X sticks of copper and no silver anti-seize in the package. No response from the seller yet. Screw Amazon. I'm just going to call my credit card company. They will take care of me.

That's the idea

I keep seeing shìt everywhere that needs a little touch up. Hand filing and cutting is getting old.

Biggest problem is the runners. They are all over the place. But they're easy to handle. I just trip them as they run by. Most of the time they aren't even paying attention :rofl2:
