Some of my best times was camping in the sticks. Was in the Boy Scouts from 12 to 17. Great times. One weekend. We was camping out in the summer. Sleeping under the stars. Had a nice camp fire going. Everyone was sleeping around it. I was still up. I decided to bury a can of spaghetti O's in the ashes. Didn't vent the can. About 20 minutes later. The can exploded. It went everywhere. The one kid, Baron woke up with spaghetti O's on his face. The ashes burned holes in the bottom of Brent's sleeping bag. I thought I would have to put him out. There was a big hole in the ashes. Chucky heard the explosion, and just rolled over in his sleeping bag. :rofl2:

This mental image made me laugh.

And yeah, my first backpacking trip was at age 8, dad brought myself and 2 of my brothers to the Davis Path in New Hampshire. I did that trail again a couple years ago - can't believe I did that at age 8! Go me! Definitely a lot of great moments. No exploding spaghetti O's though.

Few years back, some of my siblings took a trip with their friends. My brother Dan was kind of known for his fanatical weight lifting, so my sister Becky stuck a dumbbell in his backpack as a prank. Dan starts to put the pack on, realizes it's heavy and unbalanced, opens it and finds the weight.

Not realizing that it's a prank, his buddy Dave Buckler says "Wait, you're bringing that on the trail?!"

Without missing a beat, Dan responds that yes, how else is he going to keep lifting?

With a look of utter despair, Dave says "no wonder you Larsons are so fit, you're crazy! I'll never catch up with you!"

3:30 in the morning for me and Im wide awake. Was woken up at 2 to a big crash and then silence. Got up and I hear the dog play barking and running in the kitchen. Dad took a tumble and the dog thought he was playing. :icon17: Dogs licking his face while jumping on him. Dad is swearing up a storm trying to get up but cant. EMS had to show up and pick him up off the floor as he has fractures in his back.

Welcome to 5 minutes of a typical day for me. :icon17:

She is dead in the water. Playing the waiting game like Spooler has gone through. There are two 370z builds ahead of me not including what else Seb has going on. They are small shop with him and on other mechanic doing all the 370zs. So I am keeping my fingers cross that he can get start on mine by the end of May. He should be starting the fist this week or next and then if all goes well the other in four weeks. Given that nothing ever works the way it should I will be happy if he can start in May. I can't believe it has been going on four months now.

When I was in the Scouts. We had a black family of 3 boys (the Cables) join the troop. They knew NOTHING of the outdoors and the woods. Been city kids all their life. They was a riot to watch them doing stuff. :rofl2: We had the teach them everything. Well...........we went to scout camp for a week. Told all the kids no food and snacks in the tents because of the wild animals. First night, I'm laying in my cot with the flaps of the tent open. I could see all around our camp site. Just about to fall asleep...................then I smelled something...........OH...............NO........... .SKUNK! That smell got my attention right NOW!. I looked around the camp site. I spotted a whole family of skunks. About 6 of them. They went from tent to tent looking for food. They came into my tent. I didn't move, and they left. They hit the Cables tent next. I heard screams. One Cable was trying to run in his sleep bag through the campsite. The other 2 was frozen in the tent. And the smell was unbearable. All 3 of them had been sprayed. The scouts masters running around like clowns. They didn't know what to do. :rofl2: I just stayed in my sleeping bag in my tent and just watched the show. :rofl2: Poor Cables. They had to send them home in the morning because they smelled so bad. I really felt sorry for them. We all got yelled at in the morning about have food in the tents. :rofl2: In the Cables tent. It looked like a mini mart with the snacks in it. :rofl2:

Okay if we are going to tell camping stories that need to be done with your favorite adult beverage and around a camp fire or at ZDAYZ. I have forgotten more than I can remember as I to was boy scout, a member of the high school back packing club and spent a career in the wilds as a Game Warden. Yep some stupid stuff happened on many of those outing including many exploding cans of whatever the flavor of day was or firecrackers and bottle rockets. Then we had a thing we did called Game Warden Games win everyone was good and liquored up. Oh yeah....good time.:p

And you wonder why Black folks don't camp lol. When I was in Oregon I was part of a group called City Kids Fishing Club. We took at risk intercity teenage Black kids fishing. It was hilarious. These tough guys became the children that they were once we left the city. Everything from I ain't putting that worm on the hook to when they caught a fish...now what, I aint touching that. We would oh yes you are and your going to gut and clean it too. They would scream and carry on like a little girl. And if went camped oh my, all the sounds and creepy crawlies that they had never heard or saw was pretty unnerving for some. You know this is to scary I need to go home to my not so scary, scary neighborhood.:roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

Got caught playing baseball with frogs at one scout camp. Lets just say that didn't go over well. :rofl2: Found a nice stick that was like a bat at the frog pond. So.............being kids......pick up a frog and throw it to the kid with the stick. We spatter a few frogs with the stick until someone squealed on us. :shakes head:

Spoiler 03-12-2019 04:04 PM

All these Camping and Boy Scout stories... I have a bunch of them as well... and I actually still have my Boy Scout shirt and all that stuff.

The cool part is that I even can fit into the shirt still... well sort of... I mean, I can still kinda wear it as a cape, it sorta goes.. well over part of me... :shakes head:

In the scouts. We had kids that would last one camp out and quit. Creepy crawlers, snakes, animals, sounds at night would freak them out. Get them to go on snipe hunts at night. :rofl2: We lost a few kids during the night. :rofl2: Had a couple of the older kids come back to the camp fire one night with a paper bag with a couple of rocks in it. One of the new kids asked what was in the bag. The kid with the bag said that he caught a snipe and ask the other kid if he wanted to see it. THe kid never had a chance to say anything because the kid with the bag dropped the paper bag in the kids lap. The kid pee'd himself right there. :rofl2: From that point on. He was known as the Snipe Pisser. :rofl2:

I missed being a functioning part of society. Came home after an hr and a half drive. Made dinner. Made my lunch. Did a load of laundry. Ironed work shirts. Took out the trash. And finally getting to relax. I'm adulting properly I think!
