Timely that you mention this. My brothers and I have just started circulating memes relating to this.

"She's 3 and hasn't been vaccinated? Well she's had a long life."

"That's basically middle age."

i'm still trying to figure out why people are against a wall. the us has funded walls in other countries yet it bad for us to protect ourselves.

it boggles my mind that people cant comprehend that we arent saying no one gets in just that you have to come over legally. it's simply stunning the sheer stupidity of the people living here.

i wish nothing more to hit the powerball and go buy an island and hide from them all.

If I am sitting down in the chair, Ted (the dog) will paw at my leg until I look at him and then he mumbles under his breath and runs to what he wants, usually the treat cupboard.
If I am sleeping he will grumble louder and louder until he is kinda soft barking. Usually he REALLY has to go out and I NEED to get up or else.

When I first heard that he was running for POTUS, my gf and I laughed our asses off. But during his campaign, he was saying things that made sense, which surprised me because he was a billionaire that shouldve been out of touch with the middle class, and I loved that he was not PC.
I dont care what he does/did in his personal life, what matters is what hes doing for the country. :tiphat:

He's a total idiot, and we are all the worse for having him as president, even if he occasionally gets things right.

I wasn't for Obama either though, or GW, so that's just my 2 cents.

I'm actually pretty surprised you lost money to the new taxes, what was it that got you? Wife and I benefit a good bit, or would have if not for charitable contributions.

Accurate. Even then, they aren't necessarily against the wall, but they don't want him getting credit for it without getting something themselves - possibly a route to citizenship for the Dreamers. It's all a show.

By allowing the very wealthy and special interest groups a disproportionate amount of influence in our system, we've undermined most of the tenets that actually made this country a good one to live in. Don't get me wrong, the US is still amazing, but we've been very negatively impacted by a lot of legislation enacted over the past few decades.

Hotrodz 02-01-2019 08:39 AM

Lots at play with the wall. As stated Dems are not necessary against a wall as they have funded such things in the past. This is all about power the 2020 elections. Trump need to deliver for his base and the Dems are not about to let it happen. So far Trump has only been able to give his supporter small wins and the Republicans are not helping him. His efforts with health care failed miserably. His only real wins have been with trade and a lot of American companies are hurting because of some of those moves. His efforts to bolster the military have fallen flat and have put our troops at risk. Our government is in chaos and they are so self focused none of us matter. Tax cuts...really were is the money be made up. The US debt is higher than ever and has grown faster than the previous administration. We all should be pissed weather you are for Trump or not he and our congressional leadership are failing us.:shakes head::shakes head::shakes head:

It has been so cold they stopped using salt. Both lanes on the expressway are packed down ice piles now. 45 mph the whole way home and the Fit was moving all over the place. I had about 200 yards in front of me until the next car and I hit the brakes hard and I didnt even slow down one bit :rofl2: I eased off the gas pedal and prayed when my exit was coming up. Luckily it is uphill to the stop light. :icon14:

This is a pretty great summary. It doesn't help that Health Care is such a huge issue to tackle. I have no doubt if the Republicans really had a better platform, they'd have unveiled it, but short of cutting coverage (again) for people with pre-existing conditions, you're not going to cut the cost of health care, and you're not going to stop the costs from rising, unless you make some pretty aggressive moves elsewhere in the sector. Right now a massive portion of the cost of healthcare goes into administration and advertising (up to 25% and 15%, respectively). Eliminating that is very tricky to do. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease have also increased - responsible for as much as 85% of health care costs for spending that actually goes towards providing care.

Sickest 5% of the population are 50% of the total health care cost. Blows my mind.

I get where you're coming from, but the level of freedom we STILL have here compared to other countries is pretty mind blowing. The path to success has narrowed, but it hasn't vanished. My brother's stories from his trips to Africa are pretty harrowing. My ex's experiences in Egypt (even as a US Citizen and tourist) are likewise eye opening.

True. Norway is fantastic, but conversely it's an ultra-PC culture. Switzerland is also amazing, but very pricey to live there (of course the average income there is also much higher). I'd consider living in either of those countries.
