Quality makes a difference, as well. I stopped buying bargain brand hard drives and power supplies years ago.

Same. For as much as I gripe about my custom desktop, it has worked well since the reversion to W7. It's still ungodly heavy and overkill, but it works and never has any issues.

Cheap power supplies scare me, especially the chinesium ebay jobs. Fire waiting to happen :ugh2: :eekdance:

All my PCs minus media server and Dell laptop from 2008, are built with good hardware and they just keep working. :tup: I prefer Samsung SSDs and WD for storage drives. :tup:

I still dont know why 10 borked your whole system up. Did you ever grab the logs to see what was going on?
