Randy Rodriguez leaves Nissan for Tesla?

Now what are we going to do? Maybe it's a rumor or maybe it's truth.

I like how they show a standard model 09 370 and then show the nismo 2017 370z as if they have changed that much since.

Can't say I'd blame him if it's true

DEpointfive0 09-05-2016 04:09 PM

I'll ask him

Ventruck 09-05-2016 04:11 PM

Cool move for him if he gets to make his mark on electric car design.

Been hearing Tesla's a horrible place to work at on other levels, though.

I haven't heard that at all. I still see Telsa going out of business by the time the 3 launches

I think not. they have deep pocket. If the launch is successful with the 3, they will improve their financial situation quite a bit. I'll say they will be around for at least 5 more years.

Not to go OT, but from people I know and even just skimming Indeed, there's been considerable complaints about overworking and consequential turnover (despite the high star rating).

Guess it's a lot of pressure to execute projects flawlessly because one flop and they're in very hot water on top of the financial situation. One of those places you just have to know what you're in for before you sign up.

This is accurate. He has joined Tesla. It was a quiet transition wasn't it?. An opportunity to go bigger, be a disruptor in the industry, a great addition to an impressive resume. Tesla needs to make money though. They loose 4k per vehicle and their cars don't go that far. How much longer can they do that?

Good luck Randy and thanks for all that you did for us Nissan guys. And oh yes.... thanks for signing my car and my poster.

Before joining Tesla, Rodriguez spent the last 14 years moving through the ranks of Nissan’s design organization.

At the Japanese automaker, he was credited as the lead exterior designer on 4 production cars and 5 concept cars. A versatile designer, Rodriguez’s work has taken the form of a sports coupe to a pickup truck, and even an aircraft.

Might as well move on. Since they don't seem to be in any hurry to release a new Z.
Sorry Nissan. New body work is not a new car.
