Don't believe the Z driver to be pure as the driven snow. I can't watch the video but that would be my mindset going in. Still, that's a gross over-reaction by the truck driver.

Be interesting to know how long they were side-by-side with the other car. Though I've never done anything like that, can't say that I haven't been tempted when people are paying no attention and driving in the passing lane. There was obviously space in front of - and behind - the car they were passing so it wasn't like they were stuck in the LHL.
And I'm not saying that what the truck driver did was right - but they were obviously not following the rules of the road.

Agree. Truck driver certainly crossed the line. Also interesting to know how long they were side by side.

TBH it's even possible that the Z was intentionally blocking the truck, or giving the truck driver "the bird" right before he got Ram'd.

Again, not saying the truck driver was right.

Saw that video. There was asshattery going on both sides there. Guy in the Z was screwing with the guy in the truck and he screwed with the wrong guy. Doesn't excuse the actions, but there's plenty of blame to go around. I don't know what possesses people to be complete jerks on the road like that, and I have to admit, I've thought about doing the same thing to people who purposely creep along in the left lane pacing the cars beside them and setting up a gauntlet.

Definite asshattery. On an unrelated note, Noah can do much better.

Both drivers being idiots.

JC-Nismo 06-08-2016 11:54 PM

Both drivers??? Are you guys kidding me!!! The only azzhole was the dumb fukker in the truck!!! If you allow road rage to get you to that point or anything close to it then you don't need to be behind the wheel of anything, but a wheel chair at the psycho ward!!! SMFH at some of these responses.........

JerryDeluxe 06-09-2016 02:48 AM

Assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder charge for the truck driver

kenchan 06-09-2016 07:47 AM

I say that because there was other reports (I believe on the Z drviers' facebook page) that I saw in another forum, albeit unconfirmed - that he has a history of turtling in the left lane for the sole purpose of irritating other drivers, and that he brags about it.

So if there's any truth to that, yeah. BOTH drivers.

Like I said. Not excusable what the guy in the truck did. Could have killed the people in the car in the right lane (who should have been smart enough to back off when they saw what was going on)....but it sure looks like the kid in the Z was instigating.

There is only one guy getting the Assault with the deadly weapon charge. Not saying the other guy is an angel either. Two asshats making **** soup.

This. The Z driver was committing a minor traffic infraction holding up the left lane. The truck driver committed a felony, whether he would be charged with attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon. They were both ********, but the truck driver was a much, much bigger one. One deserves a ticket, the other jail time.

I agree with you. However, I was once stuck behind two morons with modified Civics pacing each other intentionally on a two-lane highway. Under the speed limit. They were blocking about 10 other cars from proceeding ahead. I have to say...for a second, I thought about passing them on the shoulder. Obviously, I didn't...but I have to tell ya, my blood was boiling enough to do something rash.

Looks to me like the driver in the right lane was being stupid as well, the z driver was probably passing the car in the right and that driver sped up to avoid being passed. there for forcing the z driver to drive an even faster speed than he wanted to. At hat point the pickup was tailgating so close that the z driver was in a bad spot.
I see it all the time being that I am a commercial truck driver and my truck is set at 65mph max speed. I could be passing someone on the right and suddenly they sppeed up just enough to be along side me pissing off the traffic behind me. People are stupid.

SouthArk370Z 06-26-2016 09:03 AM

The video doesn't show what lead up to the incident, so it's just speculation what the car driver was doing.

More than once, I've gone to pass someone and they will speed up a little bit (in most cases, I doubt if it's intentional). Next thing I know, somebody (who is speeding) is closing fast from the rear. I'll usually speed up a bit to get out of the way but, if they are tail-gating, I'll maintain speed (not suggesting that that is the best alternative; I do a lot of things that aren't good for me.)

Jsolo 06-26-2016 09:58 AM

Lots of stupid drivers out there. Everyone needs to drive defensively, including the guy in the right lane (by slowing down if need be). It's unclear how fast the Z was passing. If vehicle in outside lane is doing 55 and Z is passing at 56, there's a problem. Truck driver had a short fuse and it didn't take much to set him off.

It's the same as if you're driving in the far outside lane and see a car ahead about to merge to the highway. Assuming left or middle lane is open, you move over. Same for the car in the middle or left lane - move over so the guy in the right lane can move over. Goes back to basic driver's ed, courtesy and being aware of what's going on around you at all times.

Traffic was crawling on the interstate yesterday because of 2 accidents up ahead. Although I was in our slushbox honda, I still drove the same as if I was in my 6mt. Kept good following distance in the right lane lane and barely had to ride the brakes, controlling speed with throttle. A few cars behind rode my bumper then passed. They were bothered that I wasn't riding the bumper of the car in front. Eventually a semi settled behind and did the same thing I was.

We need the government to enact more strict car control. Please run our daily lives more Hillary! ❤️

I tried offensively because defensive driving is just waiting for it to happen where as I get the hell out of Dodge before it happens.
