where's the popo's out there?

questionnn if you are a police man-- if i got pulled over and i dont have to go to court i can just pay the fine.. does that mean i dont get any points either??

Florida_GATOR 11-08-2009 07:24 PM

Im not a cop, but i know when i got speeding tickets i still got points on my license...but i took a class to have them removed...but that could just be in Florida idk. hope that helps lol.

nogoodname 11-08-2009 07:29 PM

dont have to go to court, many do go and hope the popo doesnt come and u win... if the cop comes, u pay the fine and court costs too. sometime they can reduce the points being given.

so, ur decision whether to go

Ziscolp370 11-08-2009 07:30 PM

Here in Tx u still get points, but if u take defencive driving then it wnt go on ur record, but idk in NJ...

PyroCustoms 11-08-2009 07:35 PM

Anytime I've ever gotten a ticket the points stick even if you pay. However some states offer 'classes' to forgive you of the ticket and it is wiped from your record (well the points anyways, I believe you still have to pay for the course.)

StLRedrider 11-08-2009 08:00 PM

i've always got a lawyer and got it knocked down to a non-moving violation then i don't think it would be points

Yeah, even though it says you don't have to appear in court you should call the municipal courthouse and tell them you want to plead not guilty. Go to Court and talk to the prosecutor and say you don't want any points and you'll have to pay the b/s fees. But its worth it cause you won't get points. BUT if you don't want to go you can pay the price of the ticket online and end up with points depending on how bad your violation was. PM me if you need more information. I've gotten so many speeding tickets that I've learned so many loop holes.

Sunsational04 11-09-2009 06:31 AM

thanx guyysss.. yea im just gonna have to suck it up and go to court. bc i CANNOT have points. ive had a perfect driving record and im not getting points bc of some stupid shithead that TRIED to race me or i dunno wtf he was doing

You need to be careful when giving advice, most magistrates hate that bc people do that to see if the cop shows up. Im in court atleast twice a week and depending on the magistrate he will either make you go to trial or if you plead no contest they will still give you a high fine for waisting the courts time

SgtGoldy 11-09-2009 12:57 PM

nvm

shabarivas 11-09-2009 01:52 PM

you do not have to go to ct - you can ask for a trial by written declaration - basically you pay the bail and they send you a packet of info... you fill out your case ... and mail it in... the officer will do the same... after the judge reviews both cases a verdict is made and they will either keep your bail and say guilty - in which case you get points but still can go to court once more. Or the cop does not send one in or has a weak case and you get not guilty.

But...wtf were YOU doing that you got a ticket? Did you goose the throttle right in front of the coppah?

phantom alert review

You also have the new Passport detector, has built-in GPS data for speedtraps, cameras, etc.

Call your local popo Station or Court; they'll be able to clarify that for you, Portuguesa!

Chupacabra 11-13-2009 11:59 AM

In florida... its works as follows.

you have three options:

1) pay fine... claiming your guilty and you get points given.

2) pay a little reduced fine, endure a 4 hour course on the internet, and no points are given (you can only do this once every 12 months, and only 5 times in 10 years) its worth it, but man is it tedious.

3) Go to court.

3a) pay a lawyer to go for you.. they will try to get you out of it.. but as the resident popo just said... you usually end up paying either a small fine and court fees, or all that and even get points.. depends on your driving record.

3b) you go to court... same as above applies. But sometimes you get lucky and the officer does not show up, and it gets dismissed, or your driving record is nice and the ticket was not for being a complete idiot, and you pay some court fees and that is all.

so if you can do the driving course to not get the points do it.. its worth the 4 hours your there staring at your screen.

TongMan 07-16-2010 11:34 AM

How can you pay the reduced fine and get no points on your driving record?

Regardless of whether you pay or go to court, points will stick.

I always advocate going to court. It's your tax money anyway, and the judge will almost never make life any harder on you than making you pay and getting the points you would have anyway. If the cop is a no-show, plead not guilty. Otherwise, plead guilty.

Just my two cents.

if you have a perfect driving record, you may receive probation before judgment, which is a win.
