Citation Not Found. Need legitimate Advice.

Hey guys,

I got a "failure to stop" citation on 9/20/09. I didn't do anything until today. I called the court via their automated citation search system. I also went online and searched for my citation. Both of those methods resulted in a "citation not found". What are the chances that this sort of a thing can happen and if it did, how could it have happened? i.e. officer lost my ticket and couldn't turn it in to the station? Sorry I just don't want to end up being happy and do nothing and later get bit in the behind even harder by having missed a court date. Thanks guys.

Go to the court house and have them check by your name or drivers license number?

:iagree:! You don't want to be pulled over months/years from now, and be informed your under arrest, for failure to pay the fine.
Also, processing may be slow, and it's not on file yet!

My speeding ticket took almost 3 months to get filed. My court date to make a plea came and went and I couldn't make a NG plea cause they had nothing on file... three weeks later the cop finally filed the ticket. Most jurisdictions will also send a notice to the address on your driver's license once it gets filed. Just keep calling, it will eventually get filed and you can make your plea.

If you are worried about it, go into the courthouse with your citation and ask them to stamp it to show you came to make your plea. That way if you get pulled over at least you have some backing that you tried.

I too would take the citation to the court house and get some sort of paperwork stating that you attempted to resolve the issue.
