btw, lein great job on removing your stock knob scratch free.

great idea on wrapping it with masking tape and duct tape. ill remember that trick next time. need to use a whole roll (check!)

Skip masking tape. It shreds to easy. Use electrical tape for the base. i used half a roll to cover the knob completely. About an inch and a half thick on all sides. E tape absorbs pressure better and leaves no residue behind. I then wrapped Gaffers tape over the E tape. Gaffers is just like Duct, but has a grippy texture to it. Works wonders and is primarily used for concerts. Then I just went crazy with pipe wrenches.

Yup. E absorbs impact. Gaffers gives grip equal to a MF towel as other have recommended.

kenchan 06-05-2015 11:30 AM

hummm.... i need to buy another Z to try this.. lol

kenchan 06-05-2015 11:31 AM

I saw way to many breaking strap wrenches. Figured I'd just go for gold. I wrapped the stalk the same exact way. The MF towel trick "works", but is insanly hard to grip from the towel to the stalk without spinning.

I should do a DIY!!! The people who did it only have it outlined in random threads. Not an actual How to.

To meet Tanner Foust tonight or not to meet him?

madwi 06-05-2015 12:56 PM

Drove to advance auto and they have everything Griots except the window cleaner

Key chatter. It absolutely drives me crazy. Both of my Cherry switch keyboards to it, although one is a lot worse than the other (browns & clears).

I'm using a CM Storm Novatouch now. Topre capacitive = no chatter.

Topre is like a normal keyboard to me. Red switches are dead quite. But yea, Brown and Blue are phenomenal for pissing off the annoying people in the office. Well worth it :rofl2:

madwi 06-05-2015 01:20 PM

Man, I wanna tackle the wiring of the switches for the nitrous crap. I just sat down in the lazyboy though and I dont think I am going to move for a while :icon17:
maybe I should get a coffee and some energy.

:icon17: Not really. :shakes head:

Also I'm not really concerned about noise. I'm concerned about pressing a key once and getting one letter, consistently.

Press once, get 1 key, but sounds like you just typed an odyssey.
