Different scale and different factors in how the price is derived.
Yes, it is higher if you convert it over to USD/gallon, but it is taxed through the roof (worse than the US) to restrict your use.

The price you pay is the price you pay regardless of how the price is structured.

Yes, but when they import 90% of their fuel (petro & diesel) that creates huge costs differences. The US is lucky we have lower import needs than other countries, but Europe could import a lot less if they allowed some more drilling but they do not. Thus the price is inflated, along with higher taxes from government. So yes, they pay more, but for reasons that could be avoided and put them on a similar level to the US.

Would also like to add, I would rather see the American price increased to European level anyways. Better for business, will actually move industries to proper fuel efficiency (not this crap band-aid sh*t), and maybe create a better/smarter American citizen in finances.

$2.66/gal. It's supposed to go down in the next few days, though, as the barrel of oil went down recently.

Filled up this morning in Western PA for $2.99 BP premium

blue660r01 01-24-2010 11:31 AM

My ex and friends said I wasn't allowed to complain until it cost more than $20 dollars to fill up a tank of gas (4.5 Gal tank). Needless to say, I broke $20 a couple times and to think the day I bought my motorcycle I filled up a full tank of Prem for $11.50! haha

i wish our tanks cost $11.50 to fill, i just dropped about $60 to fill mines :icon14:

that only works on the mainland

oil price drops -> gas price drops, oil price increases -> gas price increases

this is hawaii:

oil price drops -> gas price stays the same, oil price increases -> gas price increases
