most people come crashing in the end because they buy things they cant afford. even if they think they can.
I say get a Z, pay it off, save up for a year or two, then get a M3. dont jump the gun and get a 70k car just yet. be smart about interest accumulation and how much you'll really be paying in the long run. as my dad used to say, "Millionaires don't say 'what payment and for how long', they say 'how much'". If you dont have the money yet, dont buy it yet, imagine how much money people would save if they'd quit paying interest on everything. |
Wouldn't have to ask me twice, if I was presented the option, Z or M3.. M3 all the way. Just so much more of a prestigeous car all-around.
|
Z all the way on your budget. Put the extra coin in the bank to save for a deposit on a house / condo in a few years. Like Travis said spending more than about 1/10th of your net income isn't a good idea. Fortunately for you the Z is even more rewarding to drive than an M3, you keep finding yourself taking detours looking for windy roads. The M3 is a great GT but it's feeling kinda porky these days.

I was kinda in a new car funk and the Z wasent even in the picture until I seen the PG and I was hooked liked a fish.

My .02 cents... Go for the Z! Save the money. The performance of the Z is not to far off of the M3. Heck, a fully optioned M3 costs about double of a fully optioned Z but the M3 is defeinatly NOT double the performance of the Z. Sure, the M3 is more prestigous, but it is not like the Z is a Kia. The Z has status.
What I first look at in a car is reliablity. Having owned two M3s in the past, reliablity can be an issue. Japanese makes are very hard to beat when it comes to reliablitiy. Good luck!! BTW... I have family who are RNs in your area and love the work conditions. Your career selection was smart. |

First priority should be GET A JOB FIRST! If your plan is helping your parents WHY HAVE THEM GO IN DEBT FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE NO JOB? Sounds like you need to rethink your priorities and after you have a job is the time to celebrate. Not at your parents expense! Maturity and respect is not taught in nursing school just good common sense. JOB FIRST..THEN PURCHASE CAR! |

You didn't have to be on all caps to prove your points. I understand where you are coming from. It was not an impulse or a rushed decision, it took time to weigh my options and the best way to do it for me is what I have stated earlier:tiphat: PS. Thanks to everyone for their insights. I can't wait 'til I get my Z. |

So my advice was good sound advice for a young man not working yet and living with his parents WHO DID STATE HIS MAIN OBJECTIVE WAS TO HELP HIS PARENTS. So with that cleared up I believe I gave good advice. I realize there may be some on here that had the good fortune to grow up with everything at there finger tips and have had it all easily. Then there are those who have had to work for all they have so therefore its good advice and a good beginning to be earning before spending. So you have a good day and enjoy your ride as I will also. |

I understand the well meaning life advice everyone is giving him but it seems to me this is an intelligent guy, so why the need to off on such tangents? To the OP, get the 370Z base model MT for under ~30K and congratulations on your nursing degree. |

Right now I am decided on a 370Z Base MT with Sport Pkg in white, pg, silver, or black. About a week ago, I shifted my decision to buying a beater and driving it for a few months and save some money so I can buy the Z on my own. Thanks for the congrats. |
