Future owner of 2014 Nismo PW

Hello everyone!

The name is Miguel. I currently reside in Arizona but will be moving to Kansas City MO very soon (most likely). I am a very long time lurker, I mean since 2011 haha. At the time I had a 2004 350z, and always wanted a 370z. With the relocation to KCMO will come a new job that will finally allow me to purchase my dream zed.

I have been waiting for the 2014 model for one reason only: Navigation. I like how Nissan integrated the system info and other good junk in there. Estimated Time of Purchase: November/December! I plan to purchase a Pearl White Nismo. Mods in mind? New shoes and boots, thinking of adding some wide rubber for it. Other than that, most likely going to keep it stock.

Cheers guys, and thank you for all the knowledge all the members provide, and the not-always-so-constructive-criticism other provide as well. Looking forward to the long nights of posting, reading, and meeting forum members.

carlitos_370z 07-23-2013 02:08 PM

Nice bro!!!! I want to see that ride as soon you buyt ;)

Chuck33079 07-23-2013 02:17 PM

I'm confused. I thought nav still isn't offered in the Nismo, just the Bose audio.

I think that he want to wait for the 2014 not only for the nav package its because he are going to have a new job ;)

Chuck33079 07-23-2013 02:23 PM

I was under the impression the Nismo wasn't getting the Nav system in '14.

6MT-Z34 07-23-2013 02:31 PM

From what they say about the'14 Nismo it looks like the navigation is only offer in Europe not the states ....but I can be wrong lol

Chuck33079 07-23-2013 02:32 PM

That's what I thought as well.

carlitos_370z 07-23-2013 02:36 PM

Like what? All I could see as far as cosmetic changes were the painted two-tone body, red stripe stickers and the steering wheel.

Do we know what coulours will be available? Same as the other zeds?

axmea? 07-24-2013 01:08 AM

Sounds like a good plan. A Nismo to me just like the 40th is meant to be kept stock, maybe an exhaust but that's pretty much about it. Good to keep it pure.

Per Nissan USA press release, the nismo in 2014 will be sold in "one fully equipped model only".

http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/u...ng-the-changes

About a third of the way down it mentions the changes in the nismo model.

Also, thank you everyone :) I am stocked to get it. I heard from m future employer, I should be staring in September.

Anyone have any suggestions in terms of how to negotiate the new model? I have always purchased my cars cash and private party.

Cheers

Very much do sir. Do not plan to do much, exhaust and headers at most, or intake most. Definitely a single 10" dc audio sub

Doesn't look like nav is included in USDM Nismos. Europe gets it, those bastards. Of course, it's a hell of a lot more expensive over there.

Interesting, not sure which article is correct, or rather up to date. One thing I did notice are the dates of the articles:

2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO Offers New Exterior Look - Nissan Online Newsroom
April/30/2013

The 2014 Nissan Lineup: Charting the Changes - Nissan Online Newsroom
July/16/2013

It is also worth noting both articles are the USA news, not deliberately Europe, Canada or elsewhere.

I simply hope they do make that change in the USDM model :ugh2: I have been waiting just for that reason. I guess a few more months and we shall find out.

Chuck33079 07-24-2013 12:32 PM

I have a feeling that if they added Nav they'd have made a big deal about it. Just because it says "fully equipped" doesn't mean they're talking about Nav.

Brutal 370Z 07-24-2013 12:59 PM

Ya man I don't think there will be a nav. "fully equipped" just means that there are no options (i.e. it only comes one way)

It's too bad. The lack of nav and additional luxuries of the touring model are the very reasons I refrained from getting the Nismo. There's really no difference in price in Canada between the Nismo and fully loaded coupe so it was a tough choice to make. I figured that since the car is a DD for me, I couldn't deal with no nav/leather and all the goodies that come with it. I'm making more power than a stock Nismo now anyway. Food for thought

exedy699 07-24-2013 06:18 PM

:driving:
In that case, I shall put on my positive hat and accept that. I did kind of want to use a tablet instead so I could have additional functionality. I guess that will be my only option regardless.

I've looked through plenty of the DIYs, dating back to early 2011, and while I saw many tablet installs I didn't see one the way I would do it. My favorite part of having a tablet would be the easy browsing of music, and apps. Including my new favorite app, waze. All in all I still want a NISMO. The looks, the sound, the performance. It's all around an amazing package that is hard to ignore.

What tablet do you guys suggest ? I was thinking an iPad mini, just because they feel smoother than android tablets in general. I own both types so no need to bash. The lack of navi also makes me wonder if the 2014 model will be worth the mark up.

Exactly the reason why I went with the sport touring. Get the essentials and then mod it.

You sir have a good point. However having a limited yearly edition of a NISMO.... Too good ;) still on that boat at the moment.

Anyone heard any additional news of the 2014? Starting to debate whether the wrapped steering wheel and accents are worth the markup

exedy699 08-06-2013 02:30 PM

I've been considering the fact that I will not be able have navigation. And leather seats. Damn.

I am feeling inclined towards the Touring with Sport package, fully loaded. It would only be 20hp away from the nismo, and I can still get the bumpers if I decide I want the same style. Or go the Amuse route. Bah so many options....

I've been driving my friends 2013 STI, and while I will admit it is an amazing piece of engineering, I am not sure I would buy one. It seems like a glorified sedan.

Chuck33079 08-06-2013 02:35 PM

Go for the touring+sport. If you mod it, you'll make up the power difference very easily. You spend more time inside the car than outside, so buy accordingly. Aftermarket Nav will never be as well integrated into the car as OEM. Of course, that becomes a problem when you want to upgrade the stereo, but there's always a catch.

Thats exactly my reasoning thus far. I wouldn't add anything in terms of aftermarket would be a subwoofer. Other than splicing one of the signal wire of a speaker its an easy job.

On a side note: Got a call yesterday from NEW employer :happydance: Relocation to Kansas City will happen in approximately 1 or two weeks max. Anyone in this forum help to give some insight and help out? I will be moving with literally a suitcase of clothes lol. The company is providing me a relocation stipend, so I will have a few bucks to get an apartment and other needs.

With the Bose, you need a line out converter. Bose makes everything more complicated.

Most new head units make you use a(n) LOC. I currently have a 2011 Scion tc and In order to get my subs wired up I had to splice the rear speakers (did both), used a simple LOC and whammie. Of course had to splice the remote for the HU to use it as a power signal for the amp.

Does the Bose have any other quirks like that? I know some of the new models have an internal HDD (5gb IIRC), is there a way to upgrade them? I tried to do a bit of research, but came up empty.

Chuck33079 08-06-2013 03:56 PM

I've never heard of upgrading the HD. It's pretty big from what I can remember.
