Huge Car Audio Audio Guy
Hello everyone my name is Matt but you can call me bigaudiofanatic either will do lol. I live in BRIDGETON NJ and do very hi quality audio installs on cars. I did this one right here
http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/5...am-ak370z.html If you need anything weather it be a question or want an install done just let me know. |
Camera usable with stock Navi?
Is it possible to use the same camera you used on AK's with a stock navi unit. Have you isntalled a back up camera to a 370z a stock navi yet?
|
You would probably have to locate the Video wires on the back of the harness and cut off the yellow plug and hard wire it into those wires. The only problem I see are if the signal wires are a different kind than the cameras.

Thanks bro
That would be a prob. hmm. Thanks. I guess Ill keep on till someone installs one.

Welcome. The only bad thing i see to these double din installs that people are doing on the 370 is there is no bezel like there was for the 350z to make it look factory.
Meaning, The radio just doesnt look factory as much as it could with a bezel or trim to go around the radio. Other than that it looks AWESOME. The one question i have is could you use a cam in the front of the car? So you could see how close to a parking block you are etc. Just curious. |

Thanks for the welcomes. I think that your not goin got be able to put one in unless you get the Nav system and than get the factory rear camera. Other than that I think you would have to go after market.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forum. I was pretty impressed with your install on AK's 370. I do all my own and many others car audio/video where I live to. I'm no "professional" but I do professional jobs through and through. I did have one kinda funny question to ask though.... You used a heat gun on the wire shrink wrap, which is professional and works well, but why don't you just use a lighter?! So much faster and way more portable.
|
Well it is marine grade heat shrink it has an adhesive inside the tubing that activates with heat. With a lighter it may be faster but it will not be even also if your not careful you can melt the heat shrink that is why I use a heat gun.
|
Right on, just wondering. I usually don't use the marine grade with adhesive. I use the multi packs that you get at Lowes. Good point on the melting though.
|
Ya that stuff is fine but being who I am I absolutely have to use the top of the line stuff in my installs. I use to get the marine grade shrink at the boat store until I found a site online that you can order it by the foot for much cheaper but still the quality.

What do you think about the the Alpine IVA-W505? I was looking at the Kenwood and the Pioneer but have always been a Alpine fan just did like their older A/V stuff.
|
I to have always been an alpine fan and will always stick with alpine. That is a great unit with plenty to offer. I have had very little good luck with pioneer and kenwood is pretty good but alpine beats them all. Alpine just has better quality and a much better interface for ipod and other products. Get it you will love the Alpine.

I totally dug the install on AK's ride. If you are looking for business I have no problem driving up to NJ for quality work. What do you know about the most recent double din from Eclipse? What would you charge to install a double din, back-up camera and speakers in the front and back on a base. Definitely feel free to PM me.
