From an E46 M3 to 370Z Nismo...

Hey guys,

Long time Bimmer guy here. Just traded in my 2003 M3 vert for a 2011 gunmetal Nismo. Loving it man!

Went crazy with the M. Promised the wife it won't happen with the Z....

Here are some pics of the old M and the new Z.

Sick m3, even zicker nismo ;)

I love the e92 m3.

Welcome & congrats big guy. The M3 is hot & I'm sure it is a huge difference in performance. I would really like to know why the change of heart all of a sudden (M3 to Nismo). I like where your heads at on the style & color of your new Z.

Very nice! Congrats. Do you like the Nismo better?

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

To answer a couple of questions.....

The M was awesome, loved every minute I owned it and think I created a unique machine. However it was time to sell it at 179K miles. My wife has a 2011 G37X and was pushing me to get the coupe model. So I went for a test drive but saw this Nismo parked out front. The only word I can use to describe the test drive is visceral!

Other than the headunit, it is the only car I have owned where I didn't have a list of things I wanted to change.

So do I like the Nismo better? It is different and I am really enjoying that. Light and fast...a new change from the heavy vert. Plus most people do not know what the Nismo is...and that confuses them...and I dig that. :p:

Makes sense. Did you have a lot of problems with the M3? Would you ever recommend someone getting an M3? I do agree about the head unit, but it sounds a lot better if you hook up your iPhone (turn volume all the way up on iPhone) & use Pandora. A lot of people do not know what the Nismo is & are like WTF is that your driving, then they are like oh ok nice.

Not really. The usual stuff with a car of high mileage (fuel pump, roof motor, seals, etc). The main problem was that stepping foot in a BMW dealer for a problem meant a minimum of $1k!

Would I recommend anyone own an M3? If you have the cash and want to mark it off the bucket list, sure. They are awesome cars with a ton of aftermarket possibilities. But, if you think a BMW roundel has magical powers and the performance will be ungodly comparatively, then think again.

Welcome!

I notice you're in NOVA. Check the links in my signature, we have a pretty active group of current/former Z owners up here. We've got a VA meet coming up next weekend at the Starbucks in Fair Lakes (by the Kohl's).

Thanks for the invite. I am usually training Jiu-Jitsu on Saturday mornings but will try to make it out soon.
