New Kid Joining the Ranks

Hey guys, fairly new to the forum and been recently considering getting a new car. This Saturday I will be going out to some local dealerships to test out a couple cars like the 370,STI,EVO, and the 135i. I came from driving an Acura TL and Acura Integra, my next car will be my first new car. Any tips and tricks I should know about when going out to buy a new car?

Best tip!

Don't buy new...

Buy a slighty used car, you get more for your money...look for a 370Z nismo there getting close and even under 30k now!

Thats a pretty awesome deal. I've been searching for a new Nismo but couldn't find one in all of Northern Cali. It's also a personal preference going new and luckily I am financially stable to be able to afford something new.

Can't tell you not to it's nice to say you brought the newest **** out...

<-----brought the newest **** out once upon a time

Just keep the search going...don't settle!

Went to take a look at the STi,370, and the 135i today. I'm definitely gonna go with the 370z I was sold on the car the second I took a look at the exterior and the interior was wayy better than what I expected. However it's almost impossible to find a 2011/2012 PW MT sports/touring/navi in the Bay Area. :(

It's almost impossible to find that combo anywhere. I had a heck of a time doing it myself.

As long as your credit is descent, I would advise you get approved for your own loan BEFORE you go and shop. It puts the ball in your court. Check insurance rates for all the cars you are looking at as some will cost you significantly more than others. (Insuring my Corvette C6 was cheaper than insuring my Z) Also, check out what others are paying BEFORE you go. I sold cars for BMW and LEXUS for a long time, so the biggest thing I think you should know is.....pick a dealership that you enjoy going to.....meet their service department.....see if they are mod friendly. Doing all this will really save you headaches in the future. Good luck buddy and Wilkommen to ze Forum.

I agree about financing ahead of time. Sometimes the dealership is able to give you a better rate through one of their in house or outside financing partners, but if you go in ahead of time knowing you're pre-approved for x.xx% it will make the process easier for you.

Yeah definitely, I have everything set on my end the only thing I havent done is check the insurance rates. Pretty much gotta place a build and wait for it now.

I have a pw touring, with nav (no sport).... I wish it had the sports package, i liked the car enough the moment I saw it to buy it regardless. pw is sick on 370z.

Keep looking man, bound to find what you want eventually

Make sure you go to this website

American Express | Car Buying Home Page

That's what I did, printed it out plus it will tell you which dealership will honor and what price. Then you know they will go lower. You can even pay that same price if you want, but u can haggle still and get free mats etc too. I recommend getting the illuminated door sills thrown in there free as you can get the mats cheaper through sponsors here or ebay.
