Crashed my McLaren 570S so I am crawling back to Nissan

Hello again!

About a year ago I got into an accident with my blue McLaren (the only accident I've ever been in and it wasn't my fault), well USAA still didn't like paying out a $100k settlement and dumped me. The accident also left me shell-shocked (no injuries to anyone).

I hated worrying about the damn car every time I went out, and I just want a fun car that I can enjoy driving without worrying all the time. I also don't want to worry about some lesser insurance company ******* me if something happens again.

So I'm looking at a new NISMO 370Z. Another 370Z ten years after the first one I purchased!

Heading to a dealership in the next few weeks, and I'll let you guys know how it went.

Just a friendly reminder that we are on the probable cusp of a new model.

Agreed, hold off if I were you. 400z hopefully will be unveiled at this years LA auto show.

Do not buy a new one since a new model is supposed to come out next year.. If you really want the car now just buy a 2015 Nismo and save money.

That is why I bought a 2020 Z. They have had 10 years to get most of the bugs corrected. I wanted to get a naturally aspirated manual coupe.

I held off on my Nismo purchase for this new 400z. I actually have been holding off since that Clubsports23 Nismo deputed at the Sema show a couple years back with the twin turbo VR30DDTT. Ultimate waiting game.

I just hope they don't F this one up. Worst case, I'll pick up a 2014 Nismo and slap some 15+ recaro seats and do a twin turbo build. Will fill the void nicely

I am excited for the next Z too but let's be real waiting for the first year kinks to work out is ideal. 350z and 370z both had transmission issues first 1.5 years. I had one of the first 350z and was in that synchro blow out... it aucked and traded for my 2004.5 with updated transmission.

For me I plan to grab a 2020 and enjoy it for a couple years and once the new Z has had the bugs worked out then buy one.

Or.... go ahead and get a nice slightly used 370z now at a discount, enjoy the f out of it, and in 3 years get the new 400z post-kinks edition.

I hate to piss on every ones parade, but I don't believe a 400Z will ever be released. Why? Because it makes absolutely no sense business-wise. Nissan is so deep in financial sh*t that designing and releasing a low-volume gas-powered, two-seater sports car makes zero sense. This is especially true if we look at Nissan's core customers who want more and more SUV's.

I may be wrong but just look at Toyota for my case and point. They are the world's number one car manufacturer with endless cash reserves and they still couldn't be bothered to invest in wholly designing and manufacturing the new Supra. So they outsourced it to BMW (and it's subsidiaries) to do it for them. Well, guess what? The Supra is not selling. Some will say that it's because it's actually a BMW. That may be true but the fact remains that even Toyota (#1 car company) did not want to take the financial hit with a true Toyota-designed sports car. So they basically changed up the sheetmetal and rebadged a BMW Z4. They didn't even spend a dime redesigning the interior. This says it all.

I think Nissan is just trying to attract publicity the same way they did back when they released the Nissan 510 (IDX) prototype, paraded it at all the shows and swore it would make it to production. That car would've revitalized and revolutionized the Nissan brand but they still cancelled it.

I hope I'm wrong but in this Covid-19 world we live in right now, all bets are off!

I tried to find used but for me all the quirks and poor maintenance is a waste. I like new then i can keep it flawless. IF a new Z is released I will grab once all kinks are worked out.

If you saw my cars after years they look brand new. All used ive seen are pretty beaten up. I can get a new sport Z for 30k plus tax. Good with me to enjoy for 3 plus years.

Volk Z 07-09-2020 02:19 PM

Also we need to realize if the new Z comes its going to be marked up like crazy. I remember the GTR was supposed to be like 60k and wasn't at dealers for less than 90k or so.
The supra mark up was insane as well so between kinks or transmission or whatever other issues it will have and mark up it will be 2023 or 2024 before its time to snag in my opinion.

:iagree: No way does Nissan make a 400Z. There’s no money in it for them.

No love for the Supra?

I have no facts or inside info on a new Z, but my gut tells me that if it ever happens it will be electric. That’s a dealbreaker for me. :shakes head:

:iagree: Deal breaker for me too. I know electric sports cars can be extremely fast, but for me it’s not about getting from point A to point B as fast and as quiet as possible. It’s about enjoying the ride viscerally.
