UpRev Tune 7AT questions!

Okay completely new to the forum. I got a 2011 370z about a month ago. As of now I have FI test pipes, and AAM shorty tails. Within the next month I will be purchasing Takeda stage 2 intakes, NST crank and altanator pulley, as well as full cat backs. And then once all bolt ons are completed I want to take my car either to Austin, Tx to the UpRev headquarters. Or AWDtuning in Dallas because it's only about 4 hours away. Austin is 7 hours. But Henson performance in Alabama is only 4 hours away as well. So out of those 3 options who should I have tune my car? I know UpRev will be the best but they're $100 more expensive than AWD and Henson and 3 hours longer drive or trailer trip down there.
Also with me having the 7AT I was told I couldn't do a map switch launch control I've done a lot of research and I'm being told I can on forums. But some things I'm reading are from 350z forum not this one. I just want to launch at 1,500rpms. I launch there now with no throttle cut, no crazy spinning. I just want a helping hand via the tune. Like a valet map basically set at 1,500 rpm. So even with my foot to the floor WOT I will still only be at 1,500rpm until I release the cruise control button back into my race map and be able to launch perfectly every time at 1,500 rpm. Is that really not possible because of the automatic trans (torque converter) ?? Thanks in advance.

Besides that I want my race tune set at 93 because we don't really have 91 around here it's 87 89 or 93 so obviously I just go with 93 octane. I want to have my 5 maps like this,

1. Race map (cooling fans come on sooner, rev limit raised to 7700rpm, shifts quicker)
2. Economy map (gas saving tune)
3. Valet map (possibly launch map, set at 1,500rpm and 20 mph) so that I can WOT as stated above and it only go to 1,500 rpm and then I can map switch to race map and launch at 1,500 perfectly every time instead of having to worry about keeping the perfect pressure on my gas pedal to maintain 1,500 it's not really a "launch control" but more of a helping hand lol or should I say helping foot to keep my car perfect at 1,500 rpm every time so I can switch maps and it'll release the RPMS and allow it to take off at 1,500 to 7,700 rpm into 2nd gear IF THIS IS POSSIBLE that's one of the main things I want. So please lmk.
4. Stock map
5. 2 step map (I'm told that with the rev limit set to 4,000rpm timing set to "00" at 3,600 and up, fuel comp to "125" at 3,600rpm and up, fuel cut / restore set to 100-200rpm difference (roughly about 3,800 rpm) it will pop flames out of the exhaust and "2 step" I know it's not a true 2 step it's more of a for show thing since its non catted and can pop flames).

I have 7at and have 3 maps. I could've had 5, but wanted to simplify. I have tuned, stock, and valet mode. You just need to have cruise control to be able to switch between maps.

But can I raise rev limit / shift point to 7700 rpm on my race map? Can I have cooling fans come on sooner. Can I have SES light removed due to O2 sensors? And have speed limiter removed? All on the 7AT?
And as far as launch control I'm being told I can and that I can't have it. It's not a true launch control I know but I'd like a map set at 1,500rpm at WOT and then map switch back to my race map and be able to launch. So basically just have the 1,500 rev limit map there as a helper to keep it at 1,500 rpm at the line. Thanks in advance :/

What did you guys dyno the car in? 3rd or 4th?

Car hasn't been dyno'd yet. Or tuned. I have all bolt on breathing mods. Test pipes (non catted) , Takeda stage 2 intake , NST pulleys (crank/altanator) , FI cat back , and run 93 octane everyday. I want to get it tuned for
1. Race map where rev limit / shift point is set to 7700 rpm, cooling fans come on sooner, etc
2. Economy tune (gas saving map)
3. Stock map
4. Valet set at 3,000rpm / 30mph
5. 2 step map for shows, ((Rev limit set to 4,000rpm timing set to "00" at 3,600 and up, fuel comp to "125" at 3,600rpm and up, fuel cut / restore set to 100-200rpm difference)) it's not a launch control and you CANNOT launch it (I KNOW THIS) but it'll cut fuel / restore fuel at the right RPMS to pop flames out the exhaust with my test pipes & exhaust.

I just wanna know if it's possible to launch the 7AT, like have a map limit at 1,500 rpm and hold it there until I switch maps and take off on my race map. And if I can have it shift quicker? I know all the other is possible. Thank you.

You can do everything your asking for Ex maybe the launch, I have a 7spd and have all those done, Fans sooner, Rev limit (Can be changes) I didn't cause there s no need, Speed limit is removed, SES lights can be turned off. I have 3 maps also, But Tuned, Valet and kill mod. No race map as I don't run 100 OCT

Can't help you with the selection, but for a NA car, nothing crazy or custom, I would imagine any competent tuner can do the tune. Also be sure to have them tweak throttle map for better response and torque map to speed up the shifts. Setting the fans to run a higher duty cycle at a lower water temp will help as well.

The problem is the soft throttle cut when brake is depressed -- apparently you can't switch that off at all on the 37VHR. (However, you have so much torque at your disposal, launching much above 2K will just get you spinning wheels anyway...)

The work around is to have a switch installed that can toggle off the brake lights (search -- apparently widely done for 350's and a few on here with 370's). That way you can stand on the brake and throttle together and let off the brake whenever you want.

Allegedly ECUtek has a launch control option, but it is not a widely used tuning package for the Z... ECUtek has had better luck with the FR-S/BRZ than the 370.

Again, I don't think you can do launch control, but you can approximate it with a switch for the brake lights. As to the other maps, you can have different fueling and timing, but I don't know about the rev limiter... that might be global.

The 12's and up can start in 2nd (I think), but not older models.

Hope that helps

Thank you guys very much!! yes I am wanting > "tweak throttle map for better response and torque map to speed up the shifts. Setting the fans to run a higher duty cycle at a lower water temp will help as well" for my race tune. I'm not really "THAT" worried about launching, I just wanted a little help launching in a dig I guess. But I'll just keep my car at 1,500rpm the ole fashion way lmfao! I'll be sure to mention all this to the shop I'm going to in a few months to get tuned. So they know to take care of me the right way!! And hook me up!! Thank you guys!!

This is slightly off topic but how I'm new to UpRev, is this something that I order from them that I can do myself with pre-uploaded tune? Or do I need to buy the Osiris standard kit and bring it to my local tuner?

I contacted UpRev myself with this same question. All you do is get the Osiris standard kit you'll have to purchase it from their website, send them your mods IE: I have cat backs, test pipes, etc etc and they'll mod it for your specific mods and you'll just plug it in. They'll set up your maps and all the stuff you want. And you'll just plug it into your OBD port and you're good to go after it installs. You'll also have to send them your ECU serial # so you'll have the license to that tune. It's actually better to just spend the extra $200 for dyno time. It's only $674.76 for all of it. And obvioisly dyno tuning is more precise. It's worth it. If you're going to spend $500-550 for just the tuner to do yourself why not spend another $100-200 to get it dyno'd and know you're running at full potential.

Valid point, there's a local performance shop that has experience with UpRev, so I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea. Dyno time is $100/hr which kind of sucks. But I'd imagine it should take more than an hour or two to get it right. I haven't made up my mind yet, I like the idea of a plug and play.

I have time to ponder it!

I would def go with the dyno option. I'm from arkansas aka (no reputable shops around here I even half way trust with tuning my baby) lol I will be making the 7.5-8 hour drive to Texas to have my car tuned. :/

Starting a new topic: I found a place called "Henson Performance" out of Alabama and they seem knowledgeable on UpRev. I've seen mixed reviews of their shop. I'm NA so shouldn't be too crazy. I'm just doing a few little things to help keep the car cooler and a little faster. Has anyone dealt or know of anyone who's dealt with this shop? Or had any work/tuning done here? Thank you!!
