exhaust tips

Hi all! I've searched Google for 4 days trying to find these and I just cant. I am wanting to find 2 each resonated 2.5" inlet 5 -or- 6 inch outlet exhaust tips. Right now the largest I can find s 4" out and I just don't think that will look right.

Want weld on version and brand at this point don't matter but id prefer SS and slant cut.

Or give me idea I haven't though of. I'm building a cbe and I have all the parts picked except for the tips.

But any and all help would be greatly greatly appreciated

Why would you want a 6 inch exhaust tips.

TedB370z 11-11-2014 10:31 AM

I'm fairly sure they don't make any that reduce that far down, you're probably gonna have to get a 4" to 2.5" reducer pipe, and weld that to a 4" inlet/5"outlet pipe....

I cant find any 6" exhaust tips that aren't for trucks.... and they have a 12" length.

The stock tips on my nismo are just over 5" unless I just measured wrong, it was dark. So really I'm just trying to match the 5's that are on there. 4" I held up to current and it looked like a baby. But may have to just get 4" I can find them all day long

They are definitely under 5". Leave the 5-6" tips for the diesel guys.

I think the largest that i have seen someone make the tips for that are the guys at Meisterschaft. They make a 130mm tip (5.11 in) which is the same tip that they use on the GTR. I have had a couple guys on here buy that system for their Nismo, and the 5" actually looks really good.

You can buy some tips from Motordyne that are 5".

stock OD on them is 4-3/4, so 5 would be the max I'd be looking for

speedfreek 11-12-2014 01:31 PM

Motordyne also has SS tips that are 4.5". May be more to your liking. Here are some comparison shots.

Thank you speedfreek and wheee! for the info.

Shifting gears a bit I'm finding 3" inlets are easy to find...but I seem to remember reading going over 2.5" dual cbe actually makes you lose power except in turbo/supercharder applications. Can anyone confirm this?

I know I'm never going to boost; so is 3" dual with x pipe a good or bad pursuit?

Right now I have pricing on flanges, flex pipes, 12 & 18 inch resonators, mufflers and with new info a couple options for tips. Shop quotes range from $250 to $450 for them to fab it out of stainless steel.

A cursory research shows bumping all the items to 3" wouldn't raise the material cost by much and in some parts save money.

At the end of the day I want power so that's what my focus is on. With the contacts I have I can save a substantial enough amount to go custom rather than purchasing one that is fab'd by invidia, hks, etc

These don't have a burnt finish, but they have a rolled edge - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-690038/overview/

mag_black 03-05-2015 01:30 PM

Motordyne?

vividracing 03-05-2015 01:47 PM

MXP doesn't have a rolled titanium tip, just a straight cut. Motordyne has 5" blue straight cut in stock. Waiting on the rolled 5" burnt to come in but they are just being held up with all the Port troubles.

PM me if you want a price but they're somewhere in the $120 range.

Bluerings 03-05-2015 09:27 PM

so B2 Auto Designs has the Motordyne 5 inch rolled Titanium tips for $248! WOW!! Is it worth it???? I have searched high and low and I cannot find an identical one for a lot less, e-Bay had 4.5 inch tips which are rolled and burnt but I really want 5 inch ones. what is the stock exhaust pipe diameter,2.5?

Need to go with 4' exhaust tips, they will scrap a bit though.
