CNT LTH vs FI LTH

Other than price what is the difference between these two long tube headers? Specs on both are comparable (I.e. Tube dimensions etc.); does anyone have experience up close to these two items to be able to substantiate the near triple the price of the FI version.

I know FI makes quality products and is a fan favorite here so the intention is not to talk down FI, I just would like to know why so much higher? I only have pictures to go on and tbh in side by side pictures they look almost identical except where they meet up with the cbe.

Not familiar with the CNT headers but you get what you pay for!

actually if you look at the CNT headers it looks like the customer gets what FI payed for namely r&d. They look identical and it's hard for me to believe that CNT stainless steel is going to be that much different from FI stainless steel.

Like I said the collectors look different but not $1200 different and CNT as far as I know is not some fly by night **** company so what gives?

Does anyone have experience with the CNT LTH?

What kind of SS do they use? Does it come with all the proper hardware, 02 extenders to install? How are the welds? All these things come into play. Would suck to either bust your *** installing the LTH's or paying a lot of money to have them installed only to run into a problem. As I said, I don't have personal experience with them so I am not trying to flame CNT.

yeah that's what I'm saying, on paper the materials used are the same, which is what's leading to the doubts/concern/questions. I don't understand how they can build a comparable product to FI and be that much cheaper.

I have the same doubts you do that's why I was seeking first hand knowledge from someone who may have seen or had installed these pipes. CNT had a pretty good showing on this site to with test pipes etc. so I know they have the potential to make a good product...it's just the disparity in the price between the two options is so great I want to see if someone can tell me why.

If I came off as hostile I apologize, I was just looking for more than a "you get what you pay for" comment.

I have a CNT catback and love it... perfect fit and nice welds.

mag_black 11-06-2014 01:29 PM

Also comes down to the collector that's being used for the headers.

Good looking out, I did not know that. I just saw them on cnt's site and assumed they wouldn't sell garbage.

Thanks

What's the verdict on PPE LTH's?

That's what I hear but a few busted knuckles seems well worth it to me. What gains you get?

Rusty 11-10-2014 10:32 PM

If you do it yourself. Figure on 1.5 hrs on the right side. 5+ hrs on the left side. The damn heat shield is a B!TCH to get out. And your steering shaft can be a headache if you're not careful. Be preparred for your hands to look like they was in a fight with a pissed off putty-cat.

No exact numbers from me; just butt dyno. But I think PPE has results on their website.

Also, be aware that the PPE will be tougher to install than FI because of their design. So much so that I had to fashion a special tool to install them....WARNING: this tool is trademarked and should only be used by me and Ricky Bobby
