I will play devils advocate here and add the Motordyne Shockwave to the list. I had the F.I with 12" resonators on my old car and the only complaint was the drone at highway speeds. Decided to try something different on the new car and went with motordyne. Significantly less drone and a completely different sound. Its hard to describe but I prefer it. Cold start is pretty tame surprisingly but above 3k is when it opens up. Only downside is the cost though. I haven't dynoed it but the car is more responsive downlow which is what I wanted. I never felt the extra power from the F.I. the service from both companies is perfect and both are amazing quality.

California or China, "What difference does is make,".......both are foreign countries. :p

So is Japan, but where would you rather your Z was made, Japan or China?:icon23:

not a problem i like answering these questions.

the CF mufflers save weight vs the SS ones.

also they have a different sound vs the SS cans.

there is a slight increase in volume in the CF mufflers as well as the different tone i mentioned vs the SS ones.

i def went a different route than anyone with mine lol

sweet man thanks for the info! i had test pipes and stillen cbe on my 300z and it sounded nice - seems the stillen cbe has been tamed down for the 370z.

i honestly have never heard a stillen exhaust on the 370 in person.

no one i know or hang out with runs them.

generally most people i know run FI exhaust or some form of AAM/FI mix. a lot of people love the FI TP/HFC/LTH and pair the rest to their budget and sound preference.

I know. I thought it would make you smile, which it did, so my mission is complete.

benji 11-05-2014 02:39 PM

so another silly question while i have your attention, berk test pipes or something similar would give more gains than say stillen High flow cats?

Gadgetech 11-05-2014 09:26 PM

I was all set on buying Motordyne until I heard the F.I. Problem is I haven't heard the Motordyne in person so I can't be sure BUT the price on the Motordyne is out of control.

AND the service from FI is fantastic in my limited experience.

Zerocool 11-05-2014 09:43 PM

I'm looking into the invidia gemini cbe. By itself it sounds "ok" but then I saw another vid where it was paired up with high flow cats and it sounded PURDDDDDDY GOOOD. http://cdn.head-fi.org/b/b0/1000x500...t-VeryNice.jpg

Test pipes will get you the most gains but take into consideration of the smell and emissions testing in your state. From what I have read you will lose 4-8 HP using HFC'S compared to the test pipes.
I will be going to hfc's when my warranty runs out because in some area of Texas they are using the ole sniffer on your car depending on the county you live in.

I hear ya on the price, which is why I still don't have it. I would personally pick Motordyne over FI.

The sound of the Motordyne is amazing.

I saw that video! Sounds really good. I'm guessing like other it's subtle while cruising but loud when you mash the pedal?

How was the drone with the test pipes? also what set up are you running now, why the change?

The system is well resonated and honestly, the VQ drones with whatever you put on it. To give a straightforward answer, Minimal drone, even with test-pipes. When you get on the gas, it makes a great sound and has plenty of volume.

Right now I run the Tomei Expreme

Why? Because I have mental issues.
