Check Engine Light code P2A00

To anyone who can give me some advice:
I've installed Stillen Gen3 Intake, Berk HFC and Berk CBE on my 2012 z. The car is running great and the CEL did not come on until just this weekend, which is about 400 miles after the cats and exhaust install (intake was installed about 5K ago). I am not a mechanic, but thought I knew enough to do these myself, which I did with some DIY help. Should I worry about P2A00 (O2 sensor code)? If this is a big problem, what steps would you take to fix if it were you? If it's not a problem, should I just disconnect/reconnect the battery and forget it?

BTW: After a closer inspection I did find a few hose clamps that were a bit loose on one of the intakes. I already tightened them down, just not sure if this could have caused the O2 code.

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

Also, I do plan to get the Uprev tune sometime this summer. This should fix this CEL, right? Will the car be okay like it is for another few months? Does the Uprev tune void dealer warranty?

How much difficutly did you have removing the O2 sensor from the stock cats? It is possible you slightly damaged one and it took a few miles to completely fail.

After googling that code I see that it could be intake or exhaust leak or you could have a faulty senor. I don't think the loose coupler would cause that. I'd lean more to a bad sensor. Swap the two O2 sensor plugs and see if it changes banks.

I didn't have any trouble at all removing the sensors from the cats, but I'll try swapping them to see if the code switches.

If it switches than you have identified that one of the sensors is bad. Replace the one that is giving you the code. Some people have trouble running different two different brands so they replace both at the same time. You can probably just replace the one and see if your problem goes away.

I would also suggest that you might want to consider getting a tune with your level of mods. That's a lot of breather mods on the stock map.

Thanks, jwick. Can't I just get a new OEM sensor instead of risking an issue running two different brand sensors or having to buy two new ones? Does the tune void warranty?

I would just buy an OEM O2 sensor and try your luck. I just don't know if Nissan uses different suppliers.

Nothing actually VOIDS your warranty. The dealer can refuse service/warranty based on an aftermarket mod but only on something specific (i.e. your Gen3 intake rubbed a hole in your AC line - very common if not installed properly). It is against the law for them to completely VOID. The burden of proof is also on them to prove what you modified caused the failure.

So to answer your concern, yes the tune would prevent an engine failure from be warrantied. I have had many things covered under warranty post tune. Buy the Standard package from UpRev (make sure you get the cable) and ask your tuner to give you both your tuned map and back to stock map. This way tou can reflash the ECU back to stock if you have to take it into the dealer. If your tuner refuses to give you the tune map, find a new tuner.

Where in Texas are you?

I'm in Lubbock. Ok, so I'm a little confused about the Uprev tune. So I need to buy some equipment BEFORE I go in for the tune? I thought you just take it in and they give you the "uprev tune" and you're good to go, so what all is involved with getting the uprev tune? I need to buy a package from Uprev, THEN take it to be tuned?

You could just take it to a tuner and have them tune it and go home. The license would live on your ECU and you would not be able to remove the tune if you needed to take it to the dealer without going to see your tuner. I prefer to have the cable so I can manage the tune myself if I need to bring it in. You will pay more to have it setup this way.

As for the package/cable, I bought my license and cable from my tuner. I would call who you are thinking about bringing it to and see if they could order the cable for you. If they can then cool if not it might be better to order the package yourself and just ask the tuner what his dyno hourly rate would be to UpRev tune your car.

PM me if you want more explaination as a quick phone call is probably easier than trying to get this across in text.
