Just curious guys, but is there a difference between the different post-MAF tubes that are out there? I've seen that there are a few different companies that make them, but I wasn't sure if there was any difference.

Waying out HKS CAI over the Stillen. I know as a community we love the stillen and it is best proven, but when the hood is open the HKS looks more impressive. My question is does any one know the HP trade off from on to the other?

The HKS Intakes will have similar gains to most other short ram intakes for the 370Z. Generally they are between 10-14 whp gains on Short Ram Intakes without a tune.

Thanks for the reply. It's some thing I've been weighing out a lot, especially considering the difference in price.

Are you suggesting that upon dropping in any CAI, a tune is required? Please advise.

Any intake that doesn't place the filters outside the engine bay is a waste of time and will cost you HP, not gain it. The OEM air box pulls cold air from outside the engine bay. If you go to a short intake with the filter inside the engine bay it will cost you HP. If you aren't going with the Stillen G3 the just buy the Z1 MAF tubes and call it a day.

Required, no, but isn't a bad idea. At a minimum reset the ECU and idle relearn.

I know this topic has been beat to death which is why its a little hard scrolling through 20+ pages to get an answer lol

My question is...what would you guys suggest for building your own CAI? There must be sites that allow this?

I would love to buy the nismo R tune intake but I just can't see spending almost $700 to get very little gain from what u would get just putting together your own...

I do want the CAI to be built with all black parts though any suggestions or links I would appreciate and thanks in advance

If you're worried about price, Z1 intakes are the cheapest in town and makes the same power as G3's. They also have all kinds of silicone and some filters too if that's what you fancy.

iidylii 03-01-2016 10:13 AM

Well I mean if there's a reason some of these are $500-$700 I'm all for going with them...if they have superior quality to the others then great but if it's just the "NISMO...stillen...injen" name then that's another story :~}
