CNT EXHAUST review and information

ok so i just got the CNT exhaust shipped to me for $450

great deal right, well wrong

the h pipe has the flanges welded on backwards, if i flip the h pipe upside down it fits the mid pipe(after flipping that upside down)
but both tail pieces do not fit the midpipe(flanges are in the wrong way and the gap in between is too big) unless i remove my diff
now with the midpipe sitting the right way, tailpieces bolt up properly(no rubbing, contact, or anything), but the H pipe has 2 flanges that are backwards no matter the direction(either test pipe to exhaust flange is backwards or h pipe to midpipe flange is backwards

all i can say is this is some real BS, h pipe even came damaged when shipped but i was able to make it work so no big deal(actual h pipe connector was dented in)

i just finished putting back on the stock exhaust after spending 2 hours trying to get the CNT exhaust to bolt in and unfortunately i dont have pictures

im gonna try to get some pics with it off the car, hopefully CNT can chime in here and help me out, im also gonna give them a call and hope they either replace the part, or refund me entirely

either way, i will change my review of them if things go great, if not please BEWARE OF CNT!!!! their parts will not fit, only good that came out of this today is a workout(man my pex, biceps, triceps, and forearms are all sore)

You should have just ordered some Elanshimoto washers. Just got some in stock! Guaranteed 15whp!

One needs to remember, you get what you paid for. If you want awesome quality and great craftsmanship, then you have to pay to play. Never ever settle for something or anything.

CNT has a long history here of being cheap crap. Their test pipes break. Now their exhausts don't fit. It's what happens when you spend absolute bottom dollar on performance parts.

Very hit or miss with CNT..I and a few others have gotten lucky but with that price QC is really not their priority.

If CNT won't help you out, you could just have the flanges cut off and welded on in the correct direction?

my CNT fitment was spot on

no this is far from the truth, price =/= quality

beluga exhausts have better fitment than my CNT exhaust and thats an ebay special exhaust

im just extra pissed atm because i was stuck until 1am putting the stock exhaust back on so i can get my car off stands(i park outside)

yes i just have to cut and reweld flanges so it fits properly
i dont have a welder unfortunately otherwise id do it myself, im probably gonna pay someone to fix it if i cant get anywhere with CNT or paypal

see i read that you had nothing but good things to say about the CNT exhaust and so did others who bought it with the exception of a few minor things

well my temp exhaust arrived..... the beluga racing axle back made my bumper rubbing even worse :shakes head:..... idk if its from buying all this jdm parts but i must say i now know i have a high expectations for parts that go on my z..... the first thing i noticed is the welding.... the welding is like my welding.... meaning its nice but it aint phenomenal..... second... the fitment..
my god if my life depended on the fitment i would have died over and over and over. The tips stuck out 3 inches or more... they look like my gibson exhaust on my f150 :bowrofl: even then i was like hell i can cut and weld the tips to make em shorter.... here was the deal breaker... the mounting points dont line up... and once you bolt everything nice and tight... the mufflers push my bumper upward now instead of forward like my oem muffler :shakes head: i tried for an hour until accepting my defeat.... i didnt even put back my oem muffler because of how upset i was. bottom line you get what you pay for... something i learned a long time ago but was hoping this one time i was wrong.... im gonna return them.... as i dont even think they are meant for a 370z rather a G37...... which i realized after my friend with a g37 with authentic tanabes said they look exactly like his exhaust... so it rang a bell in my head.... :shakes head:

If you want something that you KNOW is going to fit perfectly, you need a "name brand" product. I'd sooner buy a used top-tier exhaust than a new eBay/knockoff one.

edub370 12-19-2013 03:04 PM

ark is a "name brand" and they still have fitment issues. as does litespeed, as have some motordyne systems. nothing is perfect, even with a higher price

luigi90210 12-19-2013 03:30 PM

well i got off the phone with CNT, they are telling me i am putting it on backwards and they suggest me to take it to an exhaust shop to have it installed smh...

they did offer a full refund as well, i think thats the route im going to take and just return the exhaust, i called an exhaust shop for info regarding install and the modification for it to fit and was quoted $180, i really dont want to pay more for something that should have fit from the get go

While true to an extent, the likelihood of having significant fitment issues with $450 exhausts or ebay exhausts is far higher than if you buy quality from the beginning.

:iagree: +1....... Amen brotha

luigi90210 12-19-2013 04:12 PM

ok so **** CNT

they will give me a full refund only if i pay for shipping and its gonna cost me $200 give or take for shipping

its gonna cost me less to have it fixed

im pretty ******* pissed off right now

scionide 12-19-2013 06:56 PM

Good lord..try calling another exhaust shop? I thought cutting off a flange and rewelding it would cost less than $100.
