Anyone tried the JWT intakes?

Pushing_Tin 08-22-2009 09:16 PM

Never heard of them. Link?

nogoodname 08-22-2009 09:17 PM

RCZ had those and promptly got rid of them.

nogoodname 08-22-2009 09:31 PM

stay away from crap

JWT = Junk Within Tubes

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 09:32 PM

I guess there was a previous thread, but no user reviews...

FuszNissan 08-22-2009 09:50 PM

I had them on my 350 and hated them...took them off and installed Injen. That was a long time ago though.

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 10:02 PM

Right now I'm leaning towards R2Cs

FuszNissan 08-22-2009 10:03 PM

If you want performance. I would go Stillen Gen 3 or Injen.

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 10:11 PM

I do not want oiled filters, so Stillen is out. I'd like to stay away from front fascia removal, even if it cost me a few HP. A little HP gain would be welcome, and so would some more sound and good looks...

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:14 PM

mine has the sounds.... black chrome has the looks

and Tin will find out the gains

theDreamer 08-22-2009 10:15 PM

So far the only option for is the R2C, the Takedas showed no gains. The removal of the front fascia is not the hard part, for the Stillen it is the slight cutting (though nothing) and the Injen require the changing of the washer fluid container.

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:19 PM

injen is out for me, i need the windshield fluid or i'll die in winter driving...... so no thanks
stillen requires cutting and re-oiling filters.. also... on the G, it's directly behind the grill..all kinds of shit will get stuck onto it.... damn dust and pollen...lol
and takeda stands for take da sheit out..... so r2c is left

m4a1mustang 08-22-2009 10:19 PM

Yeah, it seriously takes 10 minutes to get the front fascia off, if that. It's a very simple job!

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:20 PM

the crap that will get stuck to the filters throws me off, main issue for me.

but most fellas dont want to deal with removing the bumper

FuszNissan 08-22-2009 10:25 PM

R2C has no proven gains yet. We will see.

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:26 PM

ima get pissed if crap gains

m4a1mustang 08-22-2009 10:31 PM

I don't see how it's going to be any different. I know lots of people are going to cite the heat shields... but no one dyno's with the hood closed. So the shields are going to be a moot point.

I dynoed with my hood closed.

Interesting.

theDreamer 08-22-2009 10:35 PM

I felt like if I open the hood it gives a negative perceptive on the gains.
Be like doing a dyno for the Stillen with the front bumper off.

Not necessarily. Unless you're in a wind tunnel the cooling fan used in your typical dyno shop is not going to come close to simulating airflow at speed in 5th gear. Having the hood open with the fan in on full blast is probably going to be a little more accurate. The only difference I can imagine is that it might slightly reduce the impact of heat soak.

Subzero, Round 10, yeah yeah yeah. Let's just get this over with.

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:39 PM

should Tin dyno with hood open or not???

I'd do it open.

nogoodname 08-22-2009 10:42 PM

i'll let him know

m4a1mustang 08-22-2009 10:42 PM

I'll let you know.

MK!!!!

theDreamer 08-22-2009 10:42 PM

Hood open will only really allow for heat to dissipate better.
With a SRI system you are limited in air flow already with the placement, open the hood would create the wrong air flow (i.e. more than what would be in a real world environment).

CAI system, bumper off might be closer to real world, but I have not done any work with those systems...yet.

Aside from heat dissipation, that might not necessarily be true. There are intake ducts in place for the stock air boxes that will help pump air into the engine bay.

Pushing_Tin 08-22-2009 11:22 PM

I'm doing 4 runs, two before and two after. I will commit to doing it all on the same day if the shops can work it out. The shop with the dyno and the one doing the install are not the same. So I want the atmospheric conditions to be the nearly the same to show the gains if any.

So how about after they are installed I do one run with the hood open and the other with it closed?

When are you supposed to get the FI exhaust?

They look awesome, spendy though. You planning on doing another run when you get them? I'd like to wait and see what you get.
