My set probably won't be here until late next week, and I have Weds/Thurs off so it will probably be the the first week of September before I am able to make the appointments and get to town. It will be a Dynojet run.

No, did not hear back from Ed, and they have not charged my card.....:shakes head:

nogoodname 08-22-2009 07:31 PM

UPDATE: I checked to see if the seal does in fact seal to hood and it does. I rolled pieces of tape and put them on the seals, all over it.
Closed the hood and opened it to find out all the tape was stuck to the hood now.

Are the insides of the tubes plated as well or are they plain?

nogoodname 08-22-2009 08:01 PM

inside are plated as well.

on a side note, could you remove the quote.... it's such a waste of bandwidth to quote my review...
thanks.....lol :)

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 08:08 PM

I'm a little nervous that the plating might let loose at some point due to heat and get into the engine....

nogoodname 08-22-2009 08:11 PM

i really doubt that would happen, it's not wrapping paper...lol

it's metal bonded to another metal... if it was chrome on steel...... yes, major problem because rust cracks and chips the chrome.

the pipes are made from aluminum and aluminum doesnt rust.
bare aluminum can only corrode with oxygen, but this is not bare aluminum ....

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 08:36 PM

They looks soooo nice! But maybe I will stick to the powder coating...

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 08:37 PM

100th post - yeah!:happydance:

nogoodname 08-22-2009 08:38 PM

go for the black chrome man, nothing will go wrong

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 08:42 PM

Notice any changes on the butt-dyno in your G?

nogoodname 08-22-2009 08:51 PM

yea, only in mid range'ish...u gotta get up there a bit

i didnt try because it's been raining here, not feeling to floor it...LOL

JvKintheUSA 08-22-2009 08:56 PM

In your pics I do not see any support bracket for the filter/shield. How does the filter and shield stay in place and not move around?

nogoodname 08-22-2009 09:00 PM

there are brackets, attached from heat shield to stock air box bracket from the inner fenders

the air box only has one bolt, same goes for the r2c's

280z/300zx 08-23-2009 11:24 AM

Dyno?

Okay, so pretty solid and no rubbing the power steering fluid reservoir or the radiator cooling hoses on the passenger side?

nogoodname 08-23-2009 11:26 AM

it's been posted in this thread like 5 times.

TIN WILL BE DOING A BEFORE AND AFTER DYNO RUN

In your pics it looks that the passenger shield is touching the power steering reservoir. I hate parts rubbing, so if there is a chance of rub then this one is out as well.

nogoodname 08-23-2009 11:35 AM

ok, i'll go have a closer look now

JvKintheUSA 08-23-2009 12:45 PM

Merci bien monsieur!

nogoodname 08-23-2009 12:54 PM

i checked, it's not banging up on anything... it's exactly where the stock intakes used to be

i'm not worried about it....

DIGItonium 08-24-2009 12:09 AM

Wow, this is the closest mod I'd like get for aftermarket intakes without digging into the front bumper. Hopefully it produces some decent gains... still liking stock so far.

JvKintheUSA 08-24-2009 05:30 AM

:tiphat: Ok - thanks for checking

I second that. One thing I am wondering about this intake, though, is that it seems VERY loud from the video...a lot louder than the Injen and Stillen intakes (from the other videos I've seen).

Anyone know if this intake is actually louder than the long-tube style intakes?

nogoodname 08-25-2009 07:59 PM

note that my muffler is rotted out though.....lol

can someone explain to me the pros & cons of DRY FILTERS vs. OILED FILTERS?

bradz 08-28-2009 02:50 AM

Can't wait for another dyno #'s.

Read
Air Filtration Test

Summary
Air Flow
"That means that the worst filter in this test only caused a pressure drop of 0.07 psi. In my opinion, this means that if you are picking an air filter based on performance, you probably aren't doing your car any favors. For the record, the K&N was the best flowing filter. Of the 3 types of media tested, the cotton gauze type filters flow best. There are other brands besides K&N for sale, of which most are probably made by K&N for resellers. Foam air filters flowed marginally better than paper."

Filtration
"Each test filter was used in the same car, on the same roads for 500 miles. The darker deposits indicate poorer filtration, and lighter ones better filtration. That said, both the cotton gauze type (K&N) and foam filters (Amsoil & Jackson Racing) showed the same levels of filtration. Both performed poorly compared to the fiberous or paper filters (Napa, Baldwin, and Mazda)."

Did anyone suggest just running a tap through the bolt holes? my thoughts on a 4 dollar tool from a hardware store that could have saved you 2 hours
