Vector Intake?

I bought my car used a few months ago and there's an aftermarket intake installed, its labeled with a red "Vector" logo. I've looked everywhere but i cant find a single post about it.

I'm planning to buy a G3 intake/test pipes and then get an uprev tune (already have an invidia cbe), i just want to know if anyone has heard of this product. It seems like its probably a cheap Intake, but im curious.

Thanks!

My money says it's eBay garbage. There's a lot of knockoff crap on there. If it's a short ram, I'd go buy a set of stock airboxes until you buy the Stillen CAI. Short rams do nothing for your car but feed it hot air.

I've got some stock airboxes that could use a home...

Don't have the snorkel part of them tho, I'm sure someone else could supply those.

Get in line. I was easing into whoring out my stock airboxes. :rofl2:

I was giving mine away, no one took them in the day that I had to give them away... So I left them in a parking garage, lol

I would have taken them off your hands if I knew you were giving them away.

I wanted to experiment with my short rams with the air box but I didn't want to cut up my only stock part.

It was a few months ago, and it wasn't worth shipping them to CA from Houston.

Thanks for the responses guys! After further investigation, they're actually "Spectre" intakes. Its a sri. If i were to add k&n cones would that equate similar results as MAF tubes+k&n cones?

Chuck33079 11-05-2013 08:42 AM

Isn't Spectre the brand that's sold at Autozone? A SRI intake will be worse than stock. Get some OEM airboxes, maf tubes and K&N drop-ins, and youll have 90% of the power of a CAI.

DEpointfive0 11-05-2013 09:48 AM

Yeah, OP, I think someone eBayed the intakes then went to VatoZone and bought "better" filters

6MT 11-05-2013 10:02 AM

....well....at least it had a cool name.

theDreamer 11-05-2013 10:05 AM

Those look like Takata SRI actually.

Even if its a Takata SRI I'm assuming i'm better off with MAF Tubes + K&N filter. Thoughts?

Haha, probably. I'm about to purchase the MAF tubes and K&N filters, i just need to find OEM airboxes. Might as well do the modshack fang diy as well.

Thanks again for the help guys.

theDreamer 11-05-2013 10:23 AM

Yeah, any open SRI is a poor design, I actually proved the Takata lost power especially as the intake temp increases.
I would say if you are not going for a good solid CAI then the OEM boxes plus modshack tubes are a good upgrade.

Yep. SRIs are the exact opposite of what you want on your car.

As a student who just broke his bank buying this car/wheels I'm balling on a budget. I'll go with the latter options. Appreciate it

you could always make a box for those short rams, i was going to do something similar to my Z but i didnt want to destroy my only OEM intakes and i didnt want to spend the money buying a whole OEM intake system when i only needed the boxes

just cut the box just enough so your short ram fit inside it and seal it off with some silicone, that will perform better than OEM intakes with drop ins and post paf tubes because of increased flow(and it will be pulling in the same air that the box would)
