MY car sounds like Honda help !
Just installed Test pipes + Y pipe + catback PRO-1 70mm and I love how it looks like stock and how it sounds untill 3K rpms , After 3k rpms it starts making farting exhaust internal rattle noise like honda do . when WOT , it sounds awesome ! I have my on little shop where I do Fix Nissans/infinitis and I have all the equipment to weld muffler or resinator but I dont want to guess I like to get advice what resonator or muffle to weld
2nd it started hissing when Decelerating you will hear from 11sec to 15 sec 2012 G37S dyno - YouTube |
Wait, that sounds bad to you?
And maybe your parts are rattling? That's what happens when you buy eBay specials |
:iagree:

check the car on the dyno and its needs like a muffler or something and just cant make my mind on what i want or need to quiet it down little too :( |
Get rid of the test pipes. Replace with ART pipes or HFCs. The hiss is the nature of the beast with test pipes. I had it with my 350z that had Invidia test pipes and Gemini exhaust.
|
Like @riptide said T.P are beast on our Z's and believe or not I liked the sound it made at WOT I don't think it sounded like a honda at all maybe high volume isn't your thing and nice numbers as well for being an ebay special lol GL with your setup man hope you fix it to where you like it
|
I personally enjoy the hiss of my ART pipes with my FI exhaust. Makes the car sound exotic. The TP on my 350 rattled which I hated, but I loved the power. One trade off for another.
I think you G sounded just find and resembles nothing of a honda by sound. |
Ditch the test pipes! I had to take mine off and get high flow cats because I could not stand the rasp they created! Sounded like garbage!
|
@riptide :iagree: Totally!
@future: I semi agree with you but rasp is only between 2500-3000rpm (my setup) but once off that range its Sweet music. |

yes rasp noise is killing me :( between 2700 to 3500 in 30-40% throttle but sounds like its coming from catback but could it be because of 2.75" test pipes ? I bought Pro-1 70mm with resonator and I was wondering that maybe its cheap resonator rattle ? when i used to have Test pipes+ y pipe and stock catback it never made that nosie . had a little leak where new joined old too and still did not make that noise Having hard time shifting 1st to 2nd when cold and lots of wining and bearing noise untill it warms up . tryed 85w85, 75w90, 85w90, mt85 and mt90 and no luck . I was going to run motor oil in transmission like hondas do ? anyone tried ? 10w40 should be same as 75w-90 which seems too think when cold so I was thinking about 5w30 or 5w40 If can find because 5w motor oil will be like 65w gear oil when 40 motor oil is same as 90 gear oil . any input? Exhaust might be from ebay and people hating on it and I was scared paying 500+ for catback and 300+ test pipe/y pipe combo and it was a risk but it did fit great everything, lines up perfect. I dont know its just so cheap and it fits so good that I cant resist lol I had one m2 exhaust on my 3000GT vr4 and it lasted for 6 years nice and shiny |

The hissing on decel is from the Y pipe; the farting from the TP's.
Resonated TP's will fix one of the issues, the other may require going to either a different Y or welding in Helmholtz resonators, probably just after the Y - I believe there was a thread on this very recently. |
if you wanted a stock look, go with an ark dts. if you opt for the non treated tips you cannot tell the difference from stock, as it hides higher up than the STOCK catback does. and the tips are in the same place, even fully extended. I agree though, tips that stick out past the bumper look ******* retarded. its like the rims lip that stick out past the sidewalls on your tires like an inch (on purpose). or "and this is my favorite to LOL at" super camber.
|
Now again why did you do all those changes to your car????
to look stock? :)
|
You need Helmholtz resonators, not inlines. You could A. Buy ART pipes, or B. Add your own as far forward as possible. I used the resonators in the stock mid pipe to make mine. You'll gain horsepower and kill the rasp! You will lose decibels too though.

so Guys I have a shop and I do my own work and buy, fix and sell Nissan/Infinitis from Copart and IAAI actions , I just did motor swap from my parts car g37 Sedan with 18k miles to Stillen Superchargered G37 with blown motor LOL . He had PPE headers , Y pipe and greddy catback and when I finished the motor swap and test drove it around, that car had no RASP at all and sounded like 2014 GTR I have in the shop .
I have 3 sets of extra OEM cats 2 sets of OEM y pipes 2 sets of Sedan Mid-pipes i want to get rid of Rasp and need a advice where to start or I am just gonna put everything stock and changed part by part to just diagnose the source of RASP MY 02 sensors went bad from vibration from using impact gun / Air chisle my worker used to remove stock exhaust without telling me, So 02 sensors unpluged car made 299.7 whp and 270wtq on dynp jet dyno Stock intakes , stock tune , stock clutch just test pipes and exhaust |

second, put cats back on and your rasp will go away, but you will lose power, another alternative is to weld in resonators to help with rasp heck i have a stock nismo exhaust with test pipes and its raspy as hell(granted i like the sound) from 2k-3k |

Raspy noise is fixed ! Used stock Y pipe with obx test pipes and topspeed Pro1 exhaust , now car has ) rasp and all the exhaust noise comes from back of the car instead of under the car from 2.5" Y pipe |
