Best shop for diagnosing my exhaust leak??

So I recently got my new exhaust installed and I hear a annoying leak when I step on the gas, almost sounds like a turbo woosh. I've lifted the car and found a couple leaks at my header/tp connection, put some high temp rtv on the gaskets and fixed those leaks and after that I couldn't find anymore, but I still hear the woosh when I step on the gas. What shop out of like Midas, Merlins, Firestone, CarX, ect. would you guys say is the best equipped to diagnose my leak? I know the obvious decision should be an actual exhaust shop, but all the ones around me seem really shaddy.

You sure its not your intake making the noise?

Put the car on jack stands and have someone hold the throttle at more than idle. Trace the exhaust under the car to see if you hear or see anything. If not, it's probably your intake.

which exhaust do you have? and which intake do you have? like Jsolo said some intakes make the woosh noise, and only when you step on it.

That's how I did it when I diagnosed it myself. Actually I stuck a rag in both the mufflers to create more pressure in the system and had someone rev it to 3k and felt around the flanges for any air coming out. After I fixed the leaks at the header/tp I really couldn't find any other leaks, but I know I hear one when I'm giving it throttle. I'm figuring the shops are more equipped and have a better way of testing, like a smoke machine or something

I have the stock intakes with fast intentions res. test pipes and catback exhaust.

It's really hard to feel up around the top of the flanges for leaks without completely burning myself so I'm guessing it's probably leaking out of the top of one somewhere since that's the only area I couldn't feel at.

I had a few small leaks that I took care of after installing the Q300 exhaust on the sedan. When walking around the car I could of sworn there was still a leak present. Couldn't locate it though. After a few hundred miles of driving/heat cycles, the noise is gone. It's now been over 6500 miles since the install and no recurrence.

When you're driving the car, there's so much road/engine noise, i'm really not sure how you can hear an exhaust leak unless it's really obvious.

It's pretty obvious when am next to another car and the sound reflects. It is definitely noticeable, to me at least. I'm guessing all the shops I mentioned should be equally equipped for testing my leaks? I don't want to waste my time and go somewhere where the dude just feels around while the cars at idle and then tells me "your good, no leaks!"

just get some vacuum hose and put one end it your ear, and then place the other end around the connections.... you will be able to hear everything..... even small, micro leaks...

So firestone checked ane didnt find anything. I even took the tech for a test drive and he said he thinks its rasp. Idk, maybe im just too paranoid, i do hear the rasp but i can also her a woosh....maybe its just part of the rasp? I think ill just live with it i guess

If you spray down a exhaust leak with water, does it cause the engine to idle funny? Or is that just with a intake leak?

*shakes head* Told you dude its noise from the VVEL of the vq37 motor. Idk why you keep asking questions and driving yourself insane over this. You dont have an exhaust leak.

the vq37 noise is from that hiss on decel, i know that noise. im talking about a noise on accel though! it goes woosh lol. and sounds like its coming from underneath the car.

You should let me diagnose it before taking it to a shop and paying money. PM me on facebook and we will set something up for next week.

bumpin old thread lol,

Was the noise you were getting a chattering noise accelerating around 1-3k rpm? Because and am worried that I have an exhaust leak as well.
