opinion of Single Exhaust

Hi guys

im having a legamax CBE but i really dont like the way it sounds

my Z has a FI LTH with the Legamax CBE...

im not looking for a loud exhaust sound, so im thinking of getting a single 3" exhaust and add 2 12" resonated pipes in sequence for less sound !

do you guys think it will work ??!! opinion plzzz :(

Gibby1113 05-22-2013 06:45 PM

Opinion on single exhaust?....don't

98intrigue 05-22-2013 06:58 PM

Hell yes! For those who haven't heard a single on a VQ37, you are missing out.

Gibby1113 05-22-2013 07:10 PM

Haha I'm kidding :icon18:

Doesn't a single 3" pipe flow significantly less than two 2.5" pipes?

Do you want though 2 2.5" pipes on a NA motor? The Top Speed single showed nice gains. In the end does it matter if ones 5hp more or less if the owner likes the way it sounds? Plus you lose a little a weight :ughdance:

What is the id of the stock exhaust? Aren't most na aftermarket exhausts 2.5"? If the op likes the sound, more power to him.

I don't know about the Legamax, but the hi-power is very quiet with a nice tone. That said, not sure if you are running the HFC/TP. Any exhaust pair with HFC/Tp will be LOUD.

My opinion on single exhaust is - they look badass and one of a kind!

This one for example

I'm not a huge fan of single exhaust just based on the looks with our car. I've seen it with the oem rear bumper where one cut-out is just empty. Personally I think that just doesn't look good but seeing a single under an amuse bumper... it looks great!

Who would've guessed the Amuse bumper with the Amuse exhaust would look great?!?! lol jk. Yes if I didn't have the stock rear bumper or found a way to cover one of the cutouts a single would be nice but 95% of the singles are too high pitched for me.

This setup sounds good. Check it out: Z34 Expreme TI Start Up - YouTube

Is that an adaptation from the 350Z version?

Yutnaka 05-23-2013 02:53 PM

I believe it is. They fixed the fitment during the race that they had. Check out their Facebook page where they have better fitment for that exhaust.

MyKindaGuise 05-23-2013 06:07 PM

I personally am a fan of the single exhaust with the amuse rear. It's the only way I like it really. The single exhaust's sound MEAN too. I should have mine own to add to the collection soon.

Amuse370z 05-24-2013 09:53 PM

IMO, your cars gonna have to look very aggressive to pull it off

jdmlove 05-26-2013 02:36 AM

Do it do it do it

HumbleZ34 05-26-2013 06:58 AM

A single exhaust would look alright, but the sound and weight savings would be what your after. I would do it!

Sales@AAMComp 05-26-2013 08:49 AM

If you can get passed the look, I think single exhausts on a VQ sounds amazing!

Chuck33079 05-26-2013 09:33 AM

I think people are getting too hung up on the weight savings from an exhaust. The weight is low and at the rear, when the car needs to lose weight high and in front. For weight savings you're better off with a lighter battery.

I think the weight savings are just a plus...singles on a VQ sound better (IMO) than duals. They give a deep, smooth sound similar to a 2JZ. Of course, the sound all depends on the exhaust configuration (resonator, muffler, etc). If you get it right though, the end result is well worth it!

alright bro ur an ex single exhaust owner ! plz guide me!

im looking for deep sound but not loud, im having a long tube header "IF", so i thought of keeping 2 resonator behind each other with HKS muffler ? what to do u think !!

Long tubes (no cats) means you will have horrible rasp if you do not use resonators. I started with a 3" straight from the turbo into the HKS muffler and the rasp from 2-4k was pretty bad. I added an 18" Magnaflow resonator and nailed it! The sound was perfect.

I would try 2 resonators with your long tubes to try to best eliminate the rasp.
