2nd Problem with CNT HFCs --- blew out a hole

1 Attachment(s)
Ordered and installed CNT Racing HFC on Z back in January. On arrival noticed a ding and pretty good scratch on one and made the call to customer service. Given what I call a run around when I'm told "that's all we had in stock and it's 2 months before we can replace it"...I say horse sh*t put it on anyways (no biggie) and they give me $30 credit.

500 miles later cruising with the wife and car gets huge backflow into the exhaust, service light comes on and you know how it is.

Pull off and look under only to find a half dollar sized hole in the CNT HFC! On top of it, my O2 sensor is gone and only wires are dangling....ouch.

Forwarded 4 pics into support center today....

Zoren 370 04-09-2013 10:13 PM

They should re-name their HFC= TNT HFC.
Sorry this thing happened to you.
Hopefully they will do it right and refund you in full.

SS_Firehawk 04-09-2013 10:16 PM

Damn that sucks. Hope they pull through

wow that's BAD! sad to say from my experience from CNT with their exhaust was terrible. I told them I was missing a few bolts, some bolts for the tips to tighten down, and the t-bolt clamp for the midpipe. I was told "Well its the same stuff we buy from home depot. You can just go there and buy the stuff you're missing. It'd be faster then waiting on us." Understandibly, it is easier to get them myself but there was no apology, no offer to send me the missing stuff. Just a "sucks to be you" attitude. If they wouldn't offer to send me $5 worth of bolts, doubt they are gonna give you much.

Well if CNT is reading this, I'm never going to buy your garbage, especially if you can't even stand behind it.

One a side note, my stillen high flow cats have survived summer and winter duty, and aside from the paint peeling, they've been rock solid for years.

I used to have CNT HFC.... Used to. The flanges to the headers were leaking and I won't ever cheap out on parts anymore.

If anyone who had small experience dealing with stainless steel welding, in order for the whole thing to had fallen out like that. It must had come into contact with something. For it to completely fall off the way the customer had describe, he would had notice the bung to be very weak to the point which is will be flimsy. And it is very interesting how this buyer didn't mention the WHOLE story and just post the bad part of it. Let us explain what happen.

Customer received the item and got damage during shipping. So we were more then willing to offer him a exchange but unfortunately we were sold out. So we offering him a discount or a full refund if the item is return. Customer accepted the discount. So is that bad customer service?

Yesterday the customer brought the issue with the bung fallen out issue to us. Once we saw the picture we offer the customer a completely new replacement. Sending him a replacement HFC and once he receive it he then will swap it out and send the defective one back with a prepaid shipping label included for him. So is that again. bad customer service?

The customer is basically not satisfy with the outcome because he was asking for $300 reimbursement of damages which he claim was cause by the bung fallen out. And we basically deny his request so now he is upset.

So to everyone who made a comment about "CNT not taking care of their customer", I hope this changes your mind about us. We still going to send the replacement HFC to the customer even tho he made untruth comments about our company. All of our products about backed with one year limited warranty against manufacture defect. This same goes with any other customer.

BS lie from ERZ Performance -

First, I'm a little bit peeved because before I ever purchased from these guys I did my homework - on this forum, and a few folks posted less than stellar reviews.
They are on point about these guys not accepting responsibility. ****, my car is parked, I'm out more $ with an O2 sensor and he has the fricking nerve to lie about it!
Fast forward to today when I contacted the folks at ERZ, and he is telling the truth about one thing, a full replacement part. And I would certainly hope he would stand behind the warranty.
But coming on here and straight up lying about a $300 reimbursement is truly sad. On top of it, this cat has a serious attitude and goes on to insinuate for this to happen I must have hit something. I say look my friend, it's not a DD and I am very careful with it and while I love driving it like it like I stole it, there's only 400 miles on her since adding HFCs. NO WAY Possible something got up under it! NO WAY.

Before ending the conversation I remind him about previous incident and simply give him an opportunity to make a customer out of me by "considering" to help with any cost associated with me having to now replace a O2 sensor ($110 - $200 part).

He proceeds to go on a rant about doing me a huge favor. I say to him I'm familiar with your companies image and just want you to know I'm posting the outcome on a forum. Then he starts going on about having plenty of customers, and that one customer won't bother our sales....blah, blah, blah.

Guy was a total loser overall. Why not agree part was inferior, tell me you see it's the second issue with (one) order, and offer a discount coupon or simply a "geeze man I'm sorry man!"

:wtf2:

Something just doesn't add up with this story. I have had the CNT Resonated Test Pipes on the car for a year without an issue (Forced Induction mind you). I remember reading the weld around the 02 bung cracking and causing the fouler to come out on someone's car about a year ago.

OP, I'm assuming the weld may have cracked causing the bung and 02 sensor to drag on the road, tearing it off by the wires?

I will admit, they're not the best welds. Also, using the "L" Non-Fouler adds even more stress to the weld, possibly causing it to weaken and crack.

Like I said though, maybe I have just lucked out not having issues.

Dzel 04-10-2013 10:03 PM

I have the very exact same HFC and have had them almost 2 years now. I have never had any issues yet.
