New exhaust turning yellow???

Hey guys, a few days ago I installed an Injen cat back exhaust and the welds and inside of the exhaust tips are turning a gold/yellow color. Is this normal? I've had other stainless steel exhaust systems and this did not happen. The rear mufflers sit low like the ones on the fast intentions exhaust and with the the welds turning colors it doesn't look right from the rear of the car. Anybody have any suggestions or thoughts?

Pics?
And does it come off with Mother's Metal Polish?

(BTW, your problem sounds pretty normal)

Haven't tried to see if it would come off because I haven't had time. I'll try to get some pics later today. The exhaust only has about 50 miles on it and I can't see how or why the exhaust would turn gold like that. I do hope its normal because the exhaust fits and sounds great.

All exhaust turns gold when heated

Only the tips outside will stay stainless

Mothers Polish FTW

Nothing to worry about.

that's why my new exhaust is getting ceramic coated black as soon as I get it.. :P

Not really why, but yeah. It won't be discoloring haha.

Thank you to all who replied to my question I really appreciate the help. I emailed Injen as well and they assured me it was completely normal and I had nothing to worry about. I also found some pictures of other cars with the same exhaust and theirs is doing the same thing. I don't really like it but at least I know its normal.

Thanks again

make sure you post a review, pics and video since there is no info on this exhaust :)

I wouldn't really bother doing the catback portion. That's essentially heat suppression on the one part of the exhaust that gets pretty good air flow as is. Ceramic coatings are much more appropriate on exhaust manifolds and test pipes that will be radiating heat up into the engine bay which will heatsoak the motor. The coatings do look really nice, however I think the $$$ for performance gained from coating a catback is very minimal.

In the long run though as I always tell my customers, do what makes you happy!

Oh it'll be cheapo coatings, only my headers get the good stuff. Just want to seal the metal against moisture because.... I'm also wrapping the entire thing with cheapo wrap. I'm doing everything I can to keep radiant heat down, as I get tired of cooking in the car. I know it's stainless, but it's easy and cheap to provide another layer of corrosion resistance.

Total supplies spent will be in the neighborhood of $50-60. Absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things for this build.. :)
