If you were to compare FI 18" with SS and CF cans.

I am considering buying an Fast Intentions exhaust with 18" resonators. Can not decide whether to go with CF or SS cans.

I have not heard either in person (other then sound clips individually). There are no sound clips where a comparison is made side by side.

For those that have heard both - how huge is the sound difference? Are the CF cans louder, or just a different sound?

I am not looking for a noisy exhaust.

Call Tony and have him describe the sound difference, he can describe it perfectly.

The best thing I can tell you is to keep trying to find them close to you and hear them in person as videos never do them justice.

As for the text of differences:

The SS cans have thicker walls so the sound will be slightly more muffled and have a deeper tone.

The CF cans have thinner walls so the sound will be slightly louder, and have a higher tone, a more 'exotic' tone.

:iagree:

I will also add to it what Tony told me when I ordered mine with the same dilemma. Do not choose on sound alone as it is only a slight difference and everyone's ears are different. Instead choose on the look you want more. Do you want the bling bling of the SS cans? Or do you want to be more subdued with the CF cans. You can't go wrong either way. Hope that helps.

And some people would argue that the SS are subdued since all exhausts are SS and the CF is the bling bling.

You said it right on the money, can't go wrong either way.

Tony can also have the cans ceramic coated black if you're trying to cut down on bling.

I have to agree here as well. I went with the CF cans on my G37 (the first set Tony ever made actually) for the looks. The sound difference is very minor and should not be a contributing factor IMO, at least to my ears. However, like others have said above everyone is different. Hope this helps.
