It was not bad taking the studs out and putting them back in, it was pretty simple, its just the momentum headers and shaped in suck a way that the first bottom bolt on the drivers side it like impossible to put on lol

I said the same exact thing, except I did mine in freaking July, 100F weather. Hang in there!

:iagree:After I heard mine for the first time and drove it down the street, it was all worth it

this is always nice as well, I despise paying someone a crapload of money to do something I could do myself. You have the money in your pocket and the peace of mind knowing it was done right :hello:

Hey Alex, when you're done, can you ask the mods to sticky this thread and rename it "why you shouldn't install headers yourself"

Find a sucker to install it on the cheap.

My problem with that is that sucker could **** up the o2 sensors - then I'm the sucker...

Make sure they're not that much of a sucker... Impact wrench will ruin them... IMO you should heat them, then splash water on them to shock the metals
Should come out like a charm

I'll say I told the shop to remove them before going ape $hit on the headers. They did, but I still had one go bad. Put too much pressure while you are trying to break it loose can just as easily damage it as the impact wrench. I didn't say don't coach them, but there are plenty of good mechanics looking for work that are willing to do it.

Hey chris, what tool did you use to get the last 2 bottom bolts on the passenger side?! Nothing seems to fit, and i really want to avoid using an open face wrench. I have the ratchet style wrenches, and the bolt seems like it is way to close to the header pipe to fit over it :-(

this. In my opinion you can't go around bragging and showing off your car if all you did was pay people to do stuff for you lol. There's very few things I don't know how to do on my car, and the things I don't know are quickly being learned. The best thing you can do is ask a crap load of questions and then just get under there and do it. The feeling of accomplishment you get afterwards is totally worth it. Plus when you're showing your car off and people look at you kinda amazed when you tell them nobody has touched your car but you is awesome :)

SS_Firehawk 02-16-2013 08:00 PM

As much as I would like to agree, I cannot. Some of us (such as myself) had no garage, no tools, no ramp, no jacks, nothing to do this ourselves. Not only that, there are easier cars to learn on. I paid someone to put my stuff on. They never worked on 370's. I gave them advice from everyone here on the forums on how to approach some of the mods being done. I don't feel inferior because I was unable to do it myself, I'm happy I could afford to do it in the first place. And huge props to everyone who does do it themselves, but to say we can't be proud of what we have because we didn't, or couldn't put it in, I disagree.

Sorry to derail. I'm just rooting for you Alex. The headers are a PITA. It was a nightmare just trying to unclip my O2 sensor for troubleshooting. I spent 40 minutes trying to undo it and another 20 trying to put it back in. I want to see pics of the slayed headers and the new ones when your all done :) Maybe make a pimp cane out of it.
