yeah, drag vs a 5.0 won't be pretty for us, haha. on the topic of the thread, has anyone new installed and dyno'ed these?

1/8th isn't a race, because we have auto's we'd beat 50% of whatever comes out anyways

You really should take my car to the dyno when I'm at work if you wanna get it dyno'd sooner than later ;)

I don't think I'll do headers unless the gains are really impressive which I doubt at this point. Too much install costs. Even Seb says it's not worth it, and he'd be the one making money off of me for it.

A stock 5.0 puts down around 375/350. Even with bolt ons and a tune, you better be a better driver than the other guy.

there is more to drag racing than just horsepower and torque, you have to take into account gearing, power to weight, FD, aero, ect.

a 5.0 mustang weighs close to 3700lbs with no extra addons like nav, sound, ect.
a 370z base weighs 3200lbs touring weighs somewhere around 3300lbs with a 7at and the nismo 370z is around 3300lbs(maybe a little less by ging off nissans advertised 9.4:1 power to weight ratio that puts the nismo at 3290), not to mention we have better gearing than the mustang

Of course. And drag racing is pretty much exactly what mustangs are built for while Zs are set up for tracks with turns.

no street car is built for racing, its a street car, not a purpose built track car

also you should look into the boss 302 laguna seca, or the new Z28 camaro, both of which will destroy a 370z around a road course and both are muscle cars that apparently are only built for "drag racing"

:facepalm: Yes, the 5.0 is also faster around a track than the Z. That's not top secret info. You don't need to keep restating the obvious. But to argue that the Mustang hasn't had a significant amount of chassis tuning specifically for the dragstrip is just asinine.

Not even a comparison. The Z/28 is a track car, it doesn't even have A/C. GM even stated that its for the guy who pulls it out of his garage, drives straight to the track, beats the **** out of most people there and drives it directly back to their garage.

Both of which also have metric fucktons more power than a Z as well, so it's a pretty waterheaded comparison.
