Test Pipe Rasp Cure?

So I was following a thread where someone on the board installed Berk HFC and ended up taking them off after a weekend because he couldn't stand the rasp inside the car without load. I recommended wrapping the HFC in thermal wrap (header wrap) to insulate and isolate the sound back inside the cat. This was determined to be not advisable because it would affect the operating temperature of the cat cell and decrease its temp operating range.

My solution is to run test pipes (res or not res) but to wrap them generously with exhaust wrap to try and keep any rasp within the pipe walls and send it through the rest of the exhaust system hopefully diminishing or reducing the negative characteristic.

Does anyone have any insight about doing this? If someone has test pipes on their car currently and can wrap them to see the difference, it would be appreciated and may result in a solution to the tinny rasp we all know of.

I may be completely wrong as well, I wouldn't see any adverse effect to keeping a little more heat within the test pipes and would plan to wrap my headers when I get to that stage of my mods.

That is all...

Nick
