Takeda Attack: need color opinions
2 Attachment(s)
A little back ground info. Takeda intake going on my 40th Anniv 370Z which has a few splashes of red inside and out.
I purchased the Takeda Attack Long Tube CAI a few days ago and was planning on getting them either anodized red or black chrome. Also planning to paint the engine plenum cover to match. Did a little photoshopping to a fellow members pic of their Takeda install. The 370 in the pic is black, but you get the idea. What do you guy & gals think? Anodized Red or Black Chrome? |
anodized red!
|
Red for sure.
|
Why not PC red?
I'm not feeling the candy apple of the red... |
You should go/post in the Dallas meet thread! They are awesome people and unless you're already a part of the DFW 370Z FB page (I'm Andrew A ST A NI) I think you'd make the 4th 40th anniversary in the area, and you can get styling cues from them... Especially Russell

This was a quick photoshop render so red isn't totally accurate. Actual anodized red wouldn't have as much of a candy effect. I'm leaning towards the red anodized. One reason is I've never seen anyone go that route on intakes before.

Red makes the engine bay look better.

From my background knowledge it will be ugly to go anodized because it will show the flaws in the metal more, I haven't personally SEEN the Takedas from all angles, but I know the Stillen's are good, but not 100% Also, anodized WILL give you either a crappy pink or a candy apple effect because the metal WILL show through. (We do a lot of anodizing red at our company and it's never really red, usually a pinkish hue) My money is still on PC or paint actually |
Try ano red w/ clearcoat.

The quality of the polish on the Takeda tubes is not great (lots of fine scratches) and would definitely need a good polish if I chose to go Black Chrome or Ano Red. I have tons of experience polishing aluminum so thats not a problem. |
Love how all you guys with red cars are a little biased...lol
|
I'd go red, not the candy/darker red...looks weird IMO

Suggestion for you. If you go with the graphite stencil in the 40th Anniversary badge in red. |

Also going to get smoked Nissan emblems for the front & rear bumpers and also paint the Nissan letters red. Just need to get some pinstripe paint and a good brush. |
Picked up my Takeda intake today from the powder coater, only cost $60 and looks great. Installing this weekend, pics to come.

I thought about doing the same thing for awhile, even had mine powdercoated black, before a changed my mind and went with 40th quartz. I plan on getting a few of the z1 silicone hoses in red to accent the brake/ interior.

Finally got around to installing the CAI this weekend. Install was a breeze, just took my time and it turned out great. Next purchase is an Uprev tune to get it all working to its potential. Glad I went with red, now need to figure out what to do with the intake cover. Probably smoke the silver areas and the Nissan emblem. Fill in the Nissan logotype with red One Shot paint. Or I could paint the silver area with the 40th KAV color... Hmmm.

Looks good! I was thinking about powder coating them wrinkle red when I order mine.
|
Red was definitely the right choice compliments your brakes also
